Because of the unique background of Pit Bulls (i.e., being bred to kill each other), I'd really love authoritative guidance on dog / pack dominance as it applies to Pits.

Did this get stickyfied? If not, I'll have to save a copy to my hd for re-reading in the future... Actually, a thread of good stuff on dominance, submission, and aggression would be :headbang: I remember reading about how "dominance rolls" resulted from a brief (one week or so) study of wo...

I thought all dogs had the gap between the teeth, towards the back part of the jaw. Additionally I'd read that there's no point using a breaking stick on anything but terriers, which grab, hold, and shake, because breeds other than terriers do a lot of snapping and slashing instead. tree pooper
Rufus isn't quite "ninja," but he likes to back his butt up to something tall, like tall weeds, a bush, a big rock, or a tree. One time he backed up to a chain link fence, and actually pooped on the other side of the fence. This is the first time I've seen a dog act like that, but I've he...

Instead, dogs will be labeled dangerous based on behavior such as an unprovoked attack that kills or causes severe injury to a person or dome...

I like this analysis from Canada: http://www.animalliberationfront.com/Practical/Pets/PitBullProfiling.htm The strongest connection of all, though, is between the trait of dog viciousness and certain kinds of dog owners. In about a quarter of fatal dog-bite cases, the dog owners were previously invo...

Yo from Tacoma
Hi fellow dog people, I'm Mike, male, 43 years old, unmarried but shacked up long-term, no kids; grew up in Chicago, living about 12 years now in the great Pacific North Wet. Almost a year ago, my GF and I agreed to foster Rocco and Rufus, whose house was being foreclosed with the result that their ...
