I am the queen of cheap....just start looking, and emailing, and asking places. Something will come threw. Just give it time, and keep searching.

Re: Bil-Jac Dog Food

it's interesting, because all of the local vets around here are no longer or discontinuing carrying Science Diet, and replacing it with high end foods like Blue Buffalo. Apparently they all agree also, that Science Diet is crap.

Re: Feeding Raw

Personally I look at it as "it could be worse" and at least the dogs are adopted and being fed. Some people cannot afford raw (yes, I know the stats but places like vegas make life much harder to feed raw, much more expensive) or acana, etc, but that doesn't make them less than perfectly ...

Re: Feeding Raw

Vin, I had a foster dog that just didn't get eating the whole rabbit thing...so we ended up chopping it into chunks, he ate the crap out of the heads. :huh?: He was a strange creature. The rest of the dogs generally start at the head and grind their way down. As far as freezing goes, to be honest, t...

Re: Feeding Raw

PM77-The pieces that the Mal and Paver have look big in comparrison to what lilangel is feeding. Is that because you're not giving all of the extras that he gives his dogs? Or is that not something they'll finish in one sitting? When I can get my hand on carcasses, then that is what is fed till it'...

Re: Feeding Raw

I don't do veggies...I just do prey model. However supplement wise, they get super fuel, ACV, Solid Gold Seameal and Flax, Salmon oil, and a joint supplement. I find heads to be the best source of a good mental work out, think of a puzzle for dogs. there's a Mal in there somewhere...lol h...

Re: Natural Food vs. "Major" Brand vs. Raw

E. coli, salmonella, worms, etc. (I am super paranoid) I have never had any issues, these are dogs, they have iron cast stomachs. I worm my dogs every six months, and did the same when they ate kibble. So, that kind of thing I don't worry about. TOTW is a good food, and you get a lot of bang for yo...

what diseases?

80-10-10 is the rule of thumb to follow when you do a raw diet.

Re: Natural Food vs. "Major" Brand vs. Raw

Wow! How old is she and what do you feed her? (Raw wise - animals and parts lol) Her teeth look great! Prey model diet. No premade stuff here, it's not cost effective for me. So, just anything everything, kidneys, backs, liver, heart, necks, spleen, lung, trecha, legs, wings, thighs, tounge ewwwwww...

Re: Natural Food vs. "Major" Brand vs. Raw

I agree. Nothing makes me more angry then when people are feeding a raw diet incorrectly. And refuse to take advice. And have a million reasons to why they can't feed a correct diet. If you can't feed a correct raw diet, then feed a high grade kibble. Sorry, just my rant.

Re: Natural Food vs. "Major" Brand vs. Raw

Blah, I feed RAW it's cheaper than kibble. I feed kibble on occasion, when I am out of raw, but it's not very often. Dottie's breeder is a Vet, and she feeds a raw diet to her dogs. My personal vet is a raw feeder, I think most people I know are also. For us, it's economical, and the health benefits...

Re: Natural Food vs. "Major" Brand vs. Raw

Back is the back of the animal (which you can buy), a lot of people promote the use of backs and necks for some reason, IMO they are too boney and not enough meat on them, I dont waste my money on them. Back and necks are boney meals, and do serve a purpose. Backs (chicken) are like tooth picks for...

Re: Eating habits

rather than doing rice and meat...invest in a case of canned tripe, mix a teaspoon of that in there, and she will eat.

Or don't cater, I don't. I only give them fifteen minutes to eat, but my dogs eat raw. So, I usually only apply that rule when feeding kidney.
