If you have the space, you pick up a bull calf for about forty bucks, raise and then have someone come into butcher for you.

Re: Lower Protein Food ??

The mondio GSD with these behaviors is probably not going to be helped by a change in diet alone. What the complex carbs do is suppress other amino acids like Tyrosine, (which make the brain more active,) thus allowing more Tryptophan to be available for Serotonin and Melatonin creation. This has a...

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

Yup, not for pulling at all. I think its pretty hypocritical someone would make negative comments to me taking him to a park then strap a harness to their dog and make it drag weights around. I guess theres no chance of injury in that huh? Im sure they'll say their dog enjoys it the same way mine e...

Re: Lower Protein Food ??

I am asking because at the mondio club we started training at, there is a GSD who has some OCD issues (licking the paws, etc. the vet ruled out any medical condition, and told the owner her dog is basically OCD. She feeds a prey model raw diet.) I've never met a dog who TRUELY had OCD... every lick...

Re: Lower Protein Food ??

To add to what Lilangel already said...diets that are high in carbohydrates can actually increase the tryptophan level available for serotonin synthesis (thryptophan, an aminoacid, is a precursor of serotonin). One study to look up could be the one done by DeNapoli, Dodman, Shusterm Rand and Gross ...

I agree Jacki. I would feel considerly bad for any vet or medical professional that would speak to me that way.

Re: RAW diets and proper nutrition?

That's what I always hear, that the poop is smaller and less odorous, but I haven't seen it at all, maybe it's the diets I've been using, who knows. Not really that important to me, her poop was not particularly difficult to deal with in the first place. Tess used to have a little more annoying poo...

Re: RAW diets and proper nutrition?

I don't feed ground pre made stuff. It's too messy, my dogs get a prey model diet during the spring, summer and fall, and will just stay with it all year around. Because I hate picking up kibble poop. . I have a question about that, actually, which is totally off topic, but oh well. I keep hearing ...
