I've been thinking about getting some for Molly - it sounds like something she would love based on your glowing review lol

Re: Hock tendon injury? Molly's latest medical adventure

Thank you all for the well wishes! She went back today for a visit with her surgeon (BF had to take the day off short notice but I could not get out of work deadlines) and he said her Achilles tendon is fine and no sign of any nerve issues. His recommendation is to treat it like a "sports injur...

Re: Hock tendon injury? Molly's latest medical adventure

Thanks Allison. I will have to read up on the laser therapy - not sure if my vet offers it but I can't imagine it will be hard to find someone in my area that does. Sounds like it helped Chloe a lot!

Hock tendon injury? Molly's latest medical adventure

So Molly started holding up her right rear leg on Tuesday night. We thought, okay, probably a muscle strain from having too much at Yosemite last weekend. We did strict rest and gave her metacam; carried her down/up the stairs to the backyard and kept her on leash for potty trips. This morning, I no...

Re: torn acl

Wishing Bailey a smooth recovery! Fill up some kongs with yogurt or lowfat cottage cheese mixed with some treats and freeze them - that will help keep him happy :)

Re: Irritation in between toes, and under chin

Yikes, did not realize he is limping as a result of the infections. I would definitely soak his feet - even a lukewarm, salt water soak can help soothe the discomfort but the anti-bacterial soak will be better. No, an NSAID probably will not help but I would give him a little tramadol - poor dude so...

Re: Irritation in between toes, and under chin

I agree with the fecal and a skin scrape - I think it's possible to culture for yeast infection - if it's positive for yeast, I would go back to pblove's post and read up on the link she provided. For the elimination diet, make sure that whatever formula you have chosen contains a protein your dog h...

Travel and raw...

We don't feed raw but have done some camping trips here and there - block ice will stay frozen a lot longer than cubed ice and that's what we use in the summer. We just got back from Yosemite and used cubed ice since the cooler had to be stored in the bear-proof locker and it was at or a little belo...

Re: Irritation in between toes, and under chin

Do a search for elimination diet. It is not just choosing to limit to one protein source/no grains and no other treats. You want to start with what is called a "novel" protein, a protein source that your dog has never had before - often this means looking for a quality, single protein sour...
