Re: Lump on the neck!

Stella always has a large swelling after vaccinations. It's probably nothing, but keep an eye on it and call the vet if you're worried.

Re: This may be a silly question

Yes, rinsing is the key, no matter what shampoo you're using. Any residue can causes itchiness/rashes.

Re: This may be a silly question

I use it all the time on my dogs. A tearless baby shampoo on their heads, and whatever I'm using on myself for the rest of them. lol

If your dog has sensitive skin, you can try using a baby shampoo all over. :)

Re: Lower Protein Food ??

It can be very stressful, especially at first when you're trying to figure out exactly what's going on. Rest assured that there are many of us that deal with the same issues. :) One of my favorite books in regards to this issue: Click to Calm by Emma Parsons. An excellent, practical book with a lot ...

Re: Lower Protein Food ??

After much research and consideration, I actually decided on the opposite route and went to a high protein, low carb diet. A raw one. generally speaking, raw diets aren't high protein. ie: a whole raw broiler chicken is only 14% protein. (from the USDA website ) That's because they have so much mor...

Re: Joint Supplements

I've used Glyco-Flex on my both of my dogs for the last couple of years. It's great stuff.

The best prices I've found are on amazon.com. :)

Sorry for the DP. Another thing that has helped her overall level of anxiety is 5-HTP. It is the immediate precursor of serotonin, one of the brain's neurotransmitters responsible for "feeling good". People use it for depression, anxiety, etc. There aren't a lot of studies done on i...

Re: Lower Protein Food ??

We had the lower protein diet suggested to us when we first brought Stella to a behaviorist for an eval., she was approx. 10-11 months old. She made it clear that while it might make a difference, it also may not do a damn thing. However, it's worth looking at. After much research and consideration,...

Re: Garlic for dogs?

I live in the Chicago burbs and have never seen a flea on any of my pets, when they were fed kibble or raw, and they've never had flea/tick meds. When I worked as a groomer we would occasionally have a dog come in for flea treatments, but that was pretty unusual. Not really sure why they are drawn t...

Re: Garlic for dogs?

Perhaps I misunderstood and read it as sarcasm, and if that is the case, I apologize. However, when I said something about it, she certainly didn't correct me, but instead went on a rant justifying herself. A condescending, nasty attitude is completely unnecessary and quite ineffective when you are ...

Re: Garlic for dogs?

I'm still not sure what I did that constitutes your lashing out and making harsh comments about my character. *shrug*

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be anyones client who called me cheap and lazy for asking questions. Maybe I expect better care and consideration. To each his own.
