Without sounding condescending, can I ask you if this is your first dog? Your first pit bull? I recommend reading the book "The Other End of the Leash" by Patricia McConnell. It will give you some insight into dog behavior. I also kind of liked "How to Speak Dog" by Stanley Core...

Please consider buying the books I mentioned. They are great resources for understanding dogs and their behavior and how your own behavior affects them. Thanks Allie, I will see if i can find them anywhere locally or maybe order from online. Roxers, thanks for the advice, thats very good thinking a...

PS - it looks like there's a fence there...is there any way the yard can be completely fenced so you don't have to worry about chaining her? A fenced-in yard is the absolute best purchase I've made for my house, hands down. (Although I still don't leave dogs in the yard unsupervised) I f...

PLEASE do not use a choke chain while chaining your dog out, especially if you are not supervising her. She could easily be killed. A nice flat leather buckle collar should do just fine. well I figured if the dog pulled and got choked then it would be smart enough to say to itself " if i try t...

Please, please make a sturdy tie out for your girl so she can't roam. There will always be something to entice her out of your yard, and it's only a matter of time before she gets hurt, killed, or stolen. Here are some links to some tie-out set ups: http://www.gundogmag.com/training/dog_tie/ Go dow...

If she was playing and got rough with her mouth, that's probably all it was, rough play. A stinky dead...

well how do i teach her that going down the driveway accross the street is a bad thing? If she's chasing opossums, it's not going to matter how much you teach her, she will still cross it. If you cannot fence your yard, she needs to be on a leash or a cable/chain tied up in the yard. She will get r...
