I chose never considered feeding raw food because I am not convinced that it is better than kibble that has been thoroughly researched and properly balanced and fed to dogs in feeding trials, thus proven to meet dietary needs.

My suggestion: feed her twice a day for 15 mins at a time. If she doesn't eat, pick up the food and that's all she gets. You can give her the same food that evening if she didn't eat it, but the next day get fresh food. Most dogs will figure out that they need to hurry up and eat if they don't want ...

Lite food is good because it is formulated with fewer calories and more fiber, so your dog gets more full than if you just cut back her regular food, and still gets the right formulation of vitamins. Just be sure the amount you're feeding is the correct amount. Dogs can still get fat on weight loss ...

You should worry if: he starts vomiting and/or stops eating, shows signs of abdominal discomfort, etc. I would keep feeding the pumpkin.

I'm not sure what spay inconsistency refers to. I know that older spayed females often develop incontinence issues, but that's typically much later in their life. I would definitely take her to the vet to have her checked for a UTI. Bring a urine sample with you to make it easier, rather than having...

Learning how to express anal glands can be really tricky, especially if you don't have someone there with you to show you. Really the best thing to do is take the dog to the vet or the groomer. Many vets will express anal glands for just a small fee, without charging an office visit. Maybe call your...

I use photobucket.com. It's a free photo-hosting site. You just upload pictures there. Make sure you resize them under the edit option to bulletin board size. Then you can just copy and paste the [img] url code that's below the picture.

Welcome! I'm excited for you! In my opinion pit bull puppies are just about the cutest thing in existence. Just a note of caution though: puppies can pass certain parasites to small children with some pretty serious results (though this isn't extremely common, it does happen). I don't mean to scare ...

Yeah make sure you're feeding him puppy milk replacer. Anything else will have too much lactose for a puppy to handle and can make them sick. I'm glad to hear you're taking him to the vet tomorrow, they should definitely be able to help you out and give you some good advice.

Brindle can come in different colors I believe. It describes the pattern more than a specific color.

Thanks for all the compliments! Her costume came from old navy. It was the only one they had in her size. I'm pretty sure it was intended to go on a black dog.. but oh well. I thought it was pretty silly, that's why I got it! I go back to charleston when I have breaks from school. Once I'm all done ...

Hey Everyone!

Hi, my name is Carolyn. I'm a first-year vet student in Georgia. I first fell in love with pit bulls working in a small animal clinic in Charleston, SC where we saw a lot of them. I was really impressed with how sweet they are! I went to undergrad in Georgia and one of my friends from work owned 3 p...
