Re: Rosie earned another AgilityTitle on Saturday

Congratulations! It sounds like you are doing a great job with her. Isn't it a great feeling when you see your hard work pay off at a trial? Even when you don't Q but you have a moment where your progress is really clear. I haven't tried FAST yet. We've only done one AKC trial and I was intimidated ...

Re: ACL: 11 months post Surgery and it retears?

He may have torn the suture implant (thats the major downside of traditional repair, they can break), he may have damaged his meniscus, or he may have an entirely new problem. I'd have him checked out for sure... tearing the suture after 11 months should not be an issue as it is scar tissue which s...

Re: Hip surgery AGAIN, need experiences please

We've done several in our rescue, most recently on a young malinois, but also a couple on smaller dogs and one on a pit mix. The pit mix (old thread on her: http://www.pitbullforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=53320" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) was adopted by a friend of mine so I...

Re: Odor eliminator - lawn

I have not used the one you posted but this is the one I use http://www.amazon.com/NaturVet-Eliminator-Concentrate-Spray-Ounce/dp/B000EHZFK4 I live in san francisco and at least 5 and often more dogs use our little yard for potty breaks (most "business" is done on walks) and this green stu...

Re: Lets talk poop.

I have a small yard and there are lots of dogs here with mine and the upstairs neighbor's. I pick up poop "on demand" because flies are a real issue. We keep a smaller trash can with a twist-lock lid and a poop scooper. Can is lined with a trash bag. Poop goes in there and bag goes in the ...

Re: CD

yep there is only a right about turn in AKC obedience. Do you have any trainers around you that are judges, or any ob clubs that hold run-throughs? Run-throughs and fun matches are so helpful because you can get a lot of questioned answered and practice the routine as though you were at a trial and ...

Re: Need Soft Crate Advise

for classes I use this Boots and Barkley crate from target. It cost about 15 or 20 bucks when I got it. It closes up to a disk and stores easily in my car. It is the same idea as the one Amie posted. It is NOT a sturdy crate but my dog is never in there unsupervised. It's just for waiting our turn, ...

Re: "Tomorrow" needs a home today

I just saw her listed on craigslist and was wondering what happened. Looks like she has a new name now too. I hope something pans out for her soon - it seems like she has already been bounced around quite a bit for such a youngster. If we get anyone looking for a nice little girl, we will pass them ...

Re: Spondylosis (spinal osteoarthritis)

My dog Turtle was diagnosed at about 2 or 3 years old. She already had some fusion at that point. She's 11 now and the lower half of her back is completely fused together and encased in bone. There is another name for what she has now or for what has happened. Even worse, she lost a front leg last y...

Re: Good age for the invisible fence/shock collar?

This is a sincere question because I know next to nothing about either: why is a hot wire ok with some folks while an invisible fence is not? Isn't it the same concept - dog gets zapped if they try to cross? Wouldn't, by the same logic, a dog be willing to cross a hot wire just as much as an invisib...

Re: CPE agility

Any recommendations for which I should register for (events) My first trial I entered jumpers, standard and colors. The games can be confusing at first (still are to me) but the standard and jumpers courses will be straight-forward and there are no weaves in level one and I think no teeter either. ...
