Re: CPE agility

I have really been enjoying CPE. The courses are super easy at level 1 so it is a good confidence booster. Generally they are big circles with only one or two turns. I have also found the people to be really friendly and supportive. It is a low-key and upbeat venue and the time and faults allowed in...

Re: Creating a thinker

can you back up and before working with the target stick try having him target something that you can keep closer to you like your hand or a lid? That way you can keep the reinforcement in the other hand close by and be able to reward him quickly. It occurs to me that I might need to video what I am...

Re: Creating a thinker

I'm going through this right now with a foster dog - Cocoa Bean from GDR - there is a thread about her in gallery. She is so ohmygodmyball that she doesn't slow down and problem solve. At first I was focused on impulse control but then realized that isn't the entire picture. We have managed to work ...

Re: Frisbee

This frisbee: http://www.westpawdesign.com/catalog/dogs/dog-toys/eco-friendly-dog-toys/eco-friendly-products/zisc has been holding up really well with this beast. (note photos show a regular frisbee which she can quickly and easily destroy) http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5302/5554643020_0cc3abbffc.j...

Re: Little dog heeling position help

I would use a bridge to mark the proper position (like good) then release and reward instead of rewarding him in position.

Re: Sweet Steel Magnolia - still looking

She looks like such a special lady. I can't believe you don't have people lining up to adopt her! I feel like we would if she were in our program. Who knows though. Thank you for saving her and taking such good care of her.

Re: Post your training videos

These are not serious training videos, just me playing around with Abner. I like to throw in the obedience stuff when we play. I don't often video anything though, just felt like it that day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1HO3N1dK-Y The "over" at the end is my leg :) http://www.youtube.c...

Re: Peanut Butter to go :)

My friend just gave me a couple of new tops to try out. They don't have the valve thus eliminating the air puff. He had them made with a few different hole sizes to see which one works best. C, I have several so if you want to try one or two for me, let me know. I am in your neighborhood most days p...

I'll email you. Just got a replacement power cord for the one my foster dog chewed up so I haven't been able to go online for a few days. What a relief to be back!

I like the white! Abner mentioned he wanted a martingale like Savvy's, I might have to have you make him one!

Re: susan garrett training w/ 2x2 weaves

I didn't train 2x2 but have been done some of the exercises recently in class and saw improvements right away. Q learned to weave with guides and she is super slow in the poles and kind of walks around each one. I've been experimenting both with channel weaves and 2x2 exercises and there is a defini...
