Re: New to the breed.

:welcome: I second the idea of adopting! The shelter will do all of the necessary temperament tests and they should match you with the dog that best suits YOUR lifestyle. I suggest this because #1 - its always nice to rescue a dog that would otherwise not have a life at all, and #2 - if you have no ...

what to do for dry skin other than fish oil?

Dolly does not take well to the addition of fish oils to her food, but every winter because its so dry in the house with the heat she gets dry skin and itches and itches, is there anything else I can give her?

Re: Infected stitches?

The surgery was to remove a tumor on her left hind leg. We called the vet today and he told us to keep the e-collar on and watch it, to clean it with soap and water and then put polysporin on it... We cleaned it with peroxide last night to kill any infection or atleast to nip it in the bud and now w...

Infected stitches?

Dolly's stitches seem to be red and inflamed, there is no puss coming out, and I don't think they're quite infected yet but may become infected so I wanted to know if there is anything I can do at home for her before bringing her in to the vet. Her surgery cost me $400, my cat that was put to sleep ...

Dolly had her surgery

And shes still high as a kite. She seems to be ok. But shes being extremely vocal and I can't tell if its because shes actually in pain, or because shes high and the anaesthetic is wearing off. At first it was funny, now its frustrating because I can't help her and its so pitiful. :skurrd: someone k...

Re: The C-word

Great news so far! Its a 10% chance that its cancer, and the vet said that even if it is, it is likely a stage I mast cell tumor, and with surgery it will be eliminated. So, Monday I'll be scheduling her surgery for 2 weeks from now. After that, it is going to be hell... 10 days of her wearing a con...

Re: The C-word

We've got a vet appointment tomorrow for 11:30, I'm really hoping that it is not benign, I've done some research online which *COULD* be my worst enemy, but I've come across Mast Cell Tumors, and that looks to be what she has. Not sure if these are typically cancerous or not. Guess I'll keep reading...

Re: The C-word

I am extremely hopeful that this is NOT a malignant tumor... But with our track record lately, its kind of hard to get my hopes up too high with the knowledge that I could full well be facing this with yet another animal. We just lost our cat in freakin January... If this baby isn't born in December...

The C-word

today, my heart dog turned 11... and today, we found out that she has bone cancer. To make matters worst, my own dog Dolly has a mysterious lump on her leg. I'm hoping to get her an appointment at the vet's office on Friday. When I adopted her around 3 years ago, she had a lump on her chin that was ...

welcome! The first picture I was like ahh I dunnooooo.. then the other ones had me going, YEP, theres some pittie in there... THEN your description of her personality really locked in my opinion. The personality that you described is full pin Pit Bull. The forgiving, and gentle nature with humans (a...

Re: hello

I'd say pretty good :) I am always happy to hear people say that their lives do not permit them to take in a dog at the moment - Please don't take that the wrong way! I just think it is one of the most responsible and sensible acts and decisions a human being can make because it is so easy to just s...

Re: im romeo the pit/bullmastiff rescue!

RIP Zeus :( a dog that size living to the ripe old age of 16 is something else!! Kudos to you for that, I'm sure he couldn't have had quite a full life if not for a good owner! Zeus and your current dogs are all beautiful! and MEGA kudos to you for rescuing!! My Dolly is a rescue dog, wouldn't have ...
