When I was about at my wits end I finally started looking at vets outside of my area. I now travel 45 minutes to go to the vet. I was actually looking for a veterinary dermatologist. And I found one (1 1/2 hrs away). I was actually fortunate enough to find a vet that was closer that consults with th...

Something I did for Lila was make her a cream for her skin. I haven't had to use it in awhile as her skin has been pretty calm lately. I usually don't share my recipes but I know how hard it was for us until we changed vets and got on the right track. This did a world of good for Lila. She had terri...

I don't know if there is an ivermectin cream but what I am giving Lila is a clear liquid and its by mouth once per day. This months dose cost 21.00 and the skin scraping was another 20.00, but thats still way cheaper than 150.00 and I don't believe the oral ivermectin is as hard on the dogs as the d...

We did not do the dips infact our vet mentioned them but said she really didn't reccomend them they are costly and don't always work. 2 months ago Lila was practically bald. She lost a lot of fur even after the start of ivermectin treatment, now she has almost all of her fur back. Due to the stress ...

now it is is about 52. Winter time would be well below 50. It is currently 42 where I live with a low of 38. Normally in the winter we get in the teens with windchills below 0. Wish it were that warm here in the winter. We had our first snow this past Tuesday. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3049/29...

the spin on this thread reminds me of an email forward that i got titled 'School in 1957 vs 2007:' Scenario - Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other 20 students: 1957 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by the Principal. Returns to class, sits still and does not disrupt clas...

I have never had a problem with Lila guarding her food from me. The cats are another story and that only happened once. She was eating some canned food, my cat came over and Lila snapped at her. What I did with her when she was a puppy is I would make her sit before she got her food, after she maste...

My vet gives a discount if done before a year old. Having Lila spayed, microchipped, 3 skin scrapings and her ivermectin meds cost came to $172.00 .

Depending on her weight the spay was somewhere between $96-$112 itself.

Lila started out with a small spot on her tail when we first got her. We were at the vet once a month being treated for allergies. I changed vets 2 months ago. Lila had almost no hair when we started going to the new vet. We were on cephalexin 500mg 2 x's per day for secondary bacterial infections a...

UPDATE

About 10:30 am I was getting ready to go get Lila and bring her home when the phone rang. It was our vet. Apparently at some point Lila started bleeding and she was taken back into surgery earlier this morning. If I understood correctly the doc had to reroute an artery so the bleeding would stop. Th...
