Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

After being awake since 7 am, waiting for the vet to call, He FINALLY just called at 2pm. Unfortunately, he says it's another Mast Cell Tumor. She's scheduled for surgery on wednesday. He said he'll make sure to examine every inch of her while she's under anesthesia, just to make sure she doesn't ha...

Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

They did a fine needle aspirate of the new growth. He could hardly get a sample out of it (much like last time), but he's going to stain it and try to read it under the microscope anyway. He's supposed to call me tomorrow with the results. Given the history with her last MCT, I'm thinking it's best ...

Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

Thanks everyone. I am just a nervous mess right now. I was juuust starting to not worry so much...and then I noticed the lump while petting her on the couch as we were watching TV. I had to schedule her for the last appointment of the day, at 5:40pm, because they didn't have any morning appointments...

Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

I noticed what looks like a new growth on Isabeau's side today. I barely even noticed it, because this one was hidden by fur. It was so small, that I didn't even think it was anything at first, but decided to shave the area just to see. Sure enough, after I shaved it, I noticed a similar looking rou...

Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

I sent a PM to MissKiwi about it and got her opinion. I think for now, I'm just going to keep an eye on Isabeau. :) Thanks for everyone's help!

Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

Sorry--I just looked at your picture and realized that your pup's MCT is technically on her hip, so forget what I wrote about amputation. I just replied to your post on cancer forum, lol. I believe I am going to go to my vet and ask for a copy of her pathology report, and then make an appointment t...

Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

Yep, clean margins means they removed all of it. So that's definitely good news. :)

Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

Well, the vet just called. It was a Mast Cell Tumor. Grade 2. CLEAN MARGINS!!!! Thank GOD!!! I still got really upset and burst out in tears as soon as I hung up the phone. Vet said to just keep an eye out for any new growths, especially because of the area that her MCT was in (apparently they tend ...

Re: Stinky glands....

Use an enzyme-based cleaner on the carpet to get the odor/stains out. Simple Solution and Nature's Miracle are both good. All dogs have anal gland secretions. They usually express some of it naturally when they have bowel movements. Unfortunately, a lot of dogs still need their anal glands expressed...

Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

Isabeau had her surgery yesterday. I had pre-anesthetic bloodwork done last week, and everything was normal. The surgery went well. The vet took a good chunk out around the growth, and sent it off to the lab. I should hear something back in about 10 business days. She seems to be feeling just fine. ...

Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

Mast cell tumors are very easy to diagnose by aspirate which makes me think this is less likely to be mct, however, very few tumors get irritated after an aspirate other than a mast cell tumor. If this was my case I would do 3cm margins if it were easy and a minimum of 2cm margins if it were not. W...

Re: Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

Yeah, I'm most definitely having it sent out to the lab. I'm supposed to call the vet back on tuesday, so I guess I'll ask her then about the margins.

Had the vet look at Isabeau's growth...

It's technically on her hip, an inch or two from the base of her tail. I just took this pic with my phone a couple minutes ago, it's the best I could get: http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i294/RZ2000SS/593ba87a21f74e61a09e9de867ee3009.jpg It's been there for a few months. Recently, Isabeau has star...

Re: pea sized lump

Reading about Mast Cell Tumors on PBF has prompted me to get a lump on Isabeau checked out ASAP. She's had it for a few months, it's a couple inches away from the base of her tail. Lately, I've noticed she's licking and chewing the areas around it. I didn't think it was a big deal, until reading oth...
