Re: wellness

We fed Leo Wellness Core for about 5 months and he did great on it. I'd recommend the food to anyone. We then switched to TOTW because it was cheaper, but if you can afford Wellness, I'd try it out. Leo's poops were solid on both Wellness and TOTW, but I think that may differ per dog. We're now feed...

Re: Raw feeding books/sites

Honestly I read and skimmed through the entire BARF thread on here, then searched the site in google (for example, how much organ meat to feed site:pitbullforum.com) with any questions I was unsure of or needed help with. Then, I posted in the BARF thread a few times to make sure I had a hang of it....

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

I have learned to shop around.. I spend about 80 to 90 a month.. but that feeds 4 dogs who each eat between 1 to 2 pounds a piece. My advice would be to do your research and check out & compare prices from your local meat markets.. also you can join different yahoo groups to see what else is av...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Ah didn't realize you had replied! Well, as far as the trimming goes, WOW I can't believe I have been trimming the skin/bigger parts of fat for all of this time spending hours in my kitchen sink for nothing!! Doing some research on what you said, I see you are right and there is good nutritional val...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

The salt for preservation makes sense. I wish I knew how much they used. I have looked all over the area for meat markets/raw food co-ops on Yahoo Groups, and this was the only one I could find. His poop came out blackish and tarry like there was a lot of blood in it a couple of weeks ago, and befor...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Oh and also, they have green tripe which I was thinking of trying, but don't exactly know how much I would feed if I went with say that performance blend ground.

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Hey, if anyone has a minute to spare, I just got involved with a raw co-op in Central FL, and I'm not sure what I should be ordering. I'm trying to stick to the 80-10-10 ratio, but out of the products this supplier offers, it doesn't really say how much bone and everything is included in their produ...

Furminator half off on Amazon

First of all, if anyone is interested, the Furminator is 12.99 on Amazon, and free shipping with Amazon PRIME if anyone has a use for it. Would this work as well on short haired dogs like our pits? I've been wanting to get something for Leo. Let me know if it's worth it! http://www.amazon.com/gp/pro...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Back for an update and a question. Well, I've really got the hang of this raw thing now I think. The only issue I think I'm having is that I haven't been able to find anything but chicken livers for organ meat. I know I should be getting another source of organ meat in there, I'm going to try a few ...

Re: Does anybody have Atopica covered by their pet

Sorry I forgot.. How does it work at the vet? Will they easily prescribe this? Are they going to make me run all kinds of allergy tests first? Can I renew it without another appointment hassle free? I have yet to find a trustworthy vet, and I don't want to do any unnecessary costly things, I'm strap...

Re: Does anybody have Atopica covered by their pet

Wanted to bump this as I heard of Atopica and was wondering if there were any other success stories? I saw one thread about it, and it seems like just what I need for Leo. He has some pretty bad allergies, lots of bumps and itching, just not comfortable at all it seems. I'm so happy you mentioned th...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Woohoo!! Back to normal poops and no waking up to throw up!! :D Thanks for your help. I guess now the question is.. how much liver should I start out giving him? To get him used to it.. I don't want to give him too much again ugh! They were on sale and I have like 10 containers in my freezer so I'd ...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

as long as he's still full of spunk, eating and drinking well, i'd wait it out. what bit(s) of chicken is he getting? you can always remove the skin for a couple days to see if that helps. his system might just be a bit overwhelmed, see how he does in the next day or two. is he on meds for skin iss...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

lol ok thanks :) I'll have to see what I can get. So yesterday I just fed him the chicken with no organ meat because when we started feeding raw the first week we did just chicken and he did great, great energy, hard poops, great. So he didn't want to poop the whole day and finally at about 11PM we ...
