Re: B.A.R.F. 101

with organ meat (liver especially), start SMALL. add in a tiny bit, and increase that ammount over the next weeks/months. liver should only be about 5% of the diet, so it's not a huge ammount. work up to it tho :) Ok I just got confused, I thought most people did the 80-10-10 ratio? Should I be add...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

First and foremost I am NOT a nutritionalist....But I do know that organ meat is very rich. Think of eating a 8x8 sheet of fudge.....What would your body do? The Raw diet I feed Bella is mainly Chicken, veggies, supplements, ground nuts. I got the recipe from a dog nutritionalist who had me add org...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Well I have a bit of a problem... Leo threw up the last 2 days in the middle of the night, and he has had diarrhea the past 2 days as well. We've just been feeding chicken and egg and he was doing great, hard poops and everything. Then, about 5 days ago we started adding chicken livers for organ mea...

Re: Don't know how to make her eat slower:(

I agree on the feed big. Leo learned his 2nd meal of raw with a chicken back. He was so excited and just took a bite or 2 and tried to swallow the whole thing and damn near choked himself! He started coughing it back up and I had to help him take it out his throat, damn dog lol... since then he's be...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

kaytenmags thanks for the post. I'm on the second week of feeding Leo raw and I'm finding a lot of sources that are saying different things. I guess I'll stick with what is said in this thread, as all of the dogs in this forum seem to be doing fine on raw! I did have another question if someone does...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Can anyone tell me if these tips on this site are all factual? Especially the substituting eggs for organ meat? Thanks.

Can't find a butcher/meat market in FL - Can you help?

I've started Leo on raw a week ago with this first week just feeding chicken backs/necks and raw egg a few times. He looooves the raw so far, he goes insane for his meals. But, after I start trying a couple more meats to see what sits well with him, I'll need to have a butcher to get more bulk meats...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Woops, forgot to also ask if there was anyone in the North/Central Florida region (I'm in Gainesville) who has a meat supplier? We can't find a local meat market, and are looking for options, thanks!

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

We just started feeding raw and Leo goes absolutely nuts for the chicken. I had a question about what was suggested to us from an owner of a pet food store who sells pre packaged raw foods, and feeds her dogs raw meats. She told us since we wanted to start feeding raw, we should start off by just fe...

Re: Licks around when scratched above tail?

yes it is normal that is where their nursing reflex is (general area is t at the end of their back, base of their tails) when dogs, cats, horsss, cows and many other mamals are born, that is where their Mom will lick, nibble on them to stimulate their nursing reflex so they will start nursing on th...

Licks around when scratched above tail?

So I'm not sure if this is the right sub forum for this, apologies if it isn't. We discovered the other day that our dog Leo licks the air kind of in a circular motion whenever scratched on the butt I guess. The area right above where the tail starts. Where his back meets his tail. I got a short cli...

Re: Top 5 Foods

We are currently feeding Leo Taste of the Wild and he has been doing great on it for about 6 months. Coat looks great, great energy, poops are nice and firm, and he goes crazy for the venison flavor! We fed him Wellness Core food before and he did great on that too, but the price is about $15 cheape...

Re: Wearing Collar all the time??

We only have 1 dog, but we leave the collar off pretty much all of the time when he is at home with us. When we go out with him, or take him for walks is when we put it on. I like it because whenever I grab the collar Leo jumps up and gets so excited because he knows we're going somewhere :) Also, I...

Re: Bunny Feet! (and ears), and more

Best bully sticks is AWESOME. We always order our stuff from there. The antlerz were a big hit for us, but a bit too small for me to feel comfortable for the dogs to chew too long. Bully stick prices are great, much better price point compared to the chain stores, and great quality. Nate Just saw t...

Re: Heads up Garfield, NJ

I just found out about this, I used to live the next town over. Ugh, it kills me. Can I still write a letter if I don't live in Garfield?
