Re: impulse control

I was putting them in the toy basket as neither of my dogs touched them when they didn't have food in them, I learned my lesson now.

Re: Collars: leather, nylon, quick release or roller buckle,

The strength of quick release buckles isn't the only thing to worry about. When I was a little kid I once tried to grab the collar of my highly dog aggressive labrador and accidentally grabbed the buckle. By squeezing on his collar I un clipped the buckle-bye bye labrador hello dog fight! It was als...

Re: impulse control

Picked up a tug a jug tonight, she's been at it for 20 minutes so that's got to be a big relief for her mind/body. I figured the tug a jug is strong enough that Tessa won't be able to destroy it easily if she gets a hold of it. Neither of the big brawny pit bulls in this house tried to destroy any o...

impulse control

I'm having a really hard time with Mica these days. We made so much progress for a little while, but then I started a new job for 6 days a week. I have plenty of time when I get home for the dogs as I get off at 3, but unfortunately I'm still getting into the swing of things at a labor intensive job...

Re: Another foster

My current foster had very similar problems. I also lived in an apartment and had to leash walk her. We either had to walk down 4 flights of stairs or take the loud and terrifying freight elevator, walk through an extremely loud metal garage door and then out into down town Baltimore. I eventually p...

Re: Extra tall walk-through baby gate on sale

Oy, I want one but I'm hoping that maybe my foster will find a home before I need it! Erin, does it look like a normal sized cat could squeeze through the bars? All the baby gates I have no I need to jump over, I'd like to put a permanent one up to keep Ashes from eating the cat food and my friends ...

Re: Mica needs a home-Maryland

Mica is still up for adoption! She was evaluated by trainer Aja Harris of Mutt Magic this weekend so she can go under Ethical Bull Breed Rescue and Referral. She did very well in her evaluation and was a very brave and confident dog despite being in a new place, with new people in a busy area of the...

Re: Hmmm, I propose a contest

Agreed, its a hard topic to change someone and I have been in some big blow outs with some people over it. An ex-roommate of mine once rubbed Ashes knows in her own pee when I was not home. Words cannot describe. At this point he's been very receptive to the things I tell him about dogs (he's allowe...

Re: Hmmm, I propose a contest

Since I posted this were down to about one jump every 5 times she solicits attention. She's a little bit slow, but its adorable because you can just see her mind turning about how to get what she wants. I have no doubt that jumping will be 95% extinguished by the end of the day. So far when she jump...

Its also important to start working on a reliable "out" command with him, it must have been scary having him bite onto something and not let go.

Re: Leather Safety Slip

I'd much rather see a dog over equipped for safety then a pit bull half inch nylon collar and a flexi lead! That's a great looking collar, definitely a good design.
