Have any of the vets mentioned meha esophagus? I just know that those dogs typically regurgitate alot b/c the eshopagus doesn't work properly so food doesn't get into the stomach where it should be. From what I understand it can also be an aquired condition from thyroid issues. Just my opinion but i...

I don't like Mitaban either. Ivermectin works well for all types of mange. I'm used to giving it orally but I know many vets will give it subq for anything other then demodex.

Jezzy looked like that on her belly and legs about 2 months ago. She would wake me up in the middle of the night from scratching. When I took her to the vet he said sarcoptic mange which I could have brought home from the shelter or she could have gotten from anyone of the wild animals that wandered...

If she had distemper then that could cause all sorts of things. Neurological signs can appear up to a year after recovery from distemper and can be anything from a slight head tilt to abnormal gait to seizures. There are multiple things that can cause joint popping and stiff gait. Has she been teste...

Shoppers Food Warehouse in Owings Mills usually has it. And sometimes Big Lots in Eldersburg has it. Do you feed Mackeral alot? There was a disussion on the rawfeeding list a while back that it's not a good fish to use. I can't remember why though, something about mercury levels I think. It's a heck...

Coconut oil?

I read an article yesterday about all the health benefits for humans of coconut oil. It reccomended 1 tbsp. a day in your diet and also can use it on hair, as a lotion, etc. I keep thinking I may try adding a spoon to the dogs meals and rub some into Jezzy's itchy spots for a few days and see what h...

ECR = Extracapsular Repair this is the "original" type of cruciate surgery where they go in and repair with either a tissue graft (if there is enough healthy ligament left) or what is basically fishing line. This is the procedure most regular vets do TPLO = tibial plataeu leveling osteotom...

You can also bake liver at home which is cheaper and beef heart but both are very smelly while cooking. Jezzy loves those choco milk drops (by VitaKraft I think) but those are mostly sugar so I only used those to mix in a few with other treats for variety.

Have you treid freeze dried liver? I buy the big containers but smash the peices into little bits in a plastic bag with hammer. My dogs like that and the Red Barn roll which is just a different brand from the Natural Balance roll that has already been mentioned. I've also used freeze dried fish trea...

She's already on tramadol 2x daily and has been for about a year with nsaids I totally understand your point about waiting to long that's exactly why I'm worrying about this now. I don't want to do that to her. I will say that she still loves life most of the time but if I let her do all her favorit...

Does she enjoy eating and can she eat without pain? Is she able to eliminate without pain? Can she be comfortable when at rest? Can she go for short walks without problems? Is she content (ie., not restless and craving more activity or showing signs of depression or listlessness)? I think this is t...
