Re: Dirty Petco?

The Petco near out house and in Collierville(a nicer area) is very clean and nice. Now the Petcos in the not so great areas of Memphis, are dirty and the staff is awful. So it really just depends on the store. We hardly ever go to Petco anymore though. We either get our dogs stuff online or at Holly...

Re: Natural Food vs. "Major" Brand vs. Raw

We feed Fromm dog food(which they are doing wonderful on) right now to our dogs but we fed RAW to them for awhile. It took me 3 years of research and more research before I felt like I was ready to feed RAW. The RAW Diet really helped our dachshund Buddy who is paralyzed from the waist down. His ski...

Re: On a killing spree :(

Sounds like this female, who has a history of serious aggression, should not be around other dogs. For their safety, and for hers (and your legal safety). Not the puppy (who should be having good experiences with dogs to learn they aren't all angry) and not strange dogs. Can you find places to walk...

Re: Keeping a Rescue - Dog Aggression

So does she now get along with your boyfriend's dogs or is she still acting aggressive towards them? Please never leave her alone together with the little dogs as it could end badly. Especially since Pugs and Chihuahuas are not usually the kinds of dogs that back down from a fight. This is something...

Re: "Wrestling" with your dog?

Having dealt with big adult dogs at the Humane Society who think it is ok to bite you on the arms and legs(sometimes very hard!) because they are "playing" with you, I do not agree with letting dogs play bite on people(or clothes). It really sucks when you have a Pit bull play biting on yo...

Re: 9 lbs. CHIHUAHUA pulling 900+ lbs

That is pretty impressive to see that little guy pull that much! I always likes to see when people actually treat their little dogs like dogs and participate with them in sports. Is their any Pugs that have been in weight pulling? I always thought when owning Chops that she would of been amazing at ...

Re: How many think this is worth a laugh?

Poor dog is giving off several calming signals. That was not funny at all. Also as other mentioned SnowKoi2010, just because a dog is fearful does not mean it has been abused or beaten. Tank who is a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix has had fear issues since he was a 10 week old puppy when I adopted him. He h...

Re: Nutritional value/safey of cheaper cuts of meat ?

If you are just starting out feeding your dog raw, start with chicken first and do that for a little while so that they get used to one meat source. You start with Pork or start mixing it in too soon and you are going to have a dog with watery diarrhea. Also start out slowly on the organ meat. I am ...

Re: The Thundershirt

They use thundershirts with the dogs while taking them out on walks or in the play yards at the Humane Society I volunteer at who get stressed out by other dogs or have anxiety issues. They seemed to really help them a lot.

Re: Ivermectin for flea control?

When we got our Potbellied pig Elmer we used to own from his breeder(who lived in Florida) he used Ivermectin on all his animals(Pigs, dogs etc.) for worms/fleas. I have heard of it before being used on dogs for flea control. The only animal we ever used Invermectin with were Pot bellied Pigs.

Re: WTF. Scaling the fence, desperate for advice. Please.

:goodpost: My Grandparents usually let their dogs just run loose when we lived out in the country but during hunting season and then when Bruce and Spud started to become aggressive towards one another, some of them had to stay in fenced yards. They had wire fencing running along the bottom of the f...

Re: Kibble change (Fromm?)

I always look to this forum for ideas like this, and today I went to the store and put some serious thought into switching from TOTW to Fromm. I had to come home and look up calories, though, because I need one of my dogs on a higher-calorie diet than TOTW provides. The only two options I see that ...

Re: In Need of a Very Durable Leash

Also, whenever you buy Dakota's new leash I would get the strongest snap they offer. Sweeney wearing the Ella's Lead slip leash. I really like how strong this rope is. Also how it is soft on my hands and does not tear my hands up if the dogs pull. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5167/5361171868_24e12...

Re: In Need of a Very Durable Leash

The only leashes I use for big dogs are Ella's lead. I have a rope slip lead for the dogs at the Humane Society and two rope leads with traffic handles that were Mya's and Tank's. They are very strong and I love them! I walk strong, overexcited dogs who pull really hard with Tank's leash and the sli...
