Re: Another one for the RAW experts!

My guys adore turkey day lol we buy a whole turkey once a month and I'll cut it up for them. It's so much cheaper to buy the whole bird and cut it up than it is to buy chunks. Of course Turkey is one of those special dinners around here so it's more economical to buy one bird at a time, if you'll fe...

Re: crab grass

I haven't whacked down the sprouts coming up from the roots of the two big Japanese elms in my front yard yet this summer and Stormy is obsessed with nibbling them, every time I let her out I end up having to get after her lol the neighbors must think I'm nuts standing on my porch in the middle of t...

Re: Non Specific Environmental allergies?

Thanks for all of the info on the yeast guys. I'm not entirely sure which condition we're facing, some of the photographs out there seem to be similar to Loki's rash but they aren't quite the same. I went and bought some organic or holistic or whatever it is oatmeal shampoo from the health food stor...

the good news is allergies can not be resoloved but yeast overgrowth can

If this course of treatment doesn't do the trick we'll ask the vet about yeast :) Thanks :)

Re: Cow hooves for dogs

Kinda unrelated but our dogs used to go absolutely bonkers when the farrier came to trim and shoe the horses. I'm not sure why but they always thought the little slabs of horse hoof were the greatest thing since sliced bread, we'd have to keep them away from the barn until the farrier was done so th...

Re: Another one for the RAW experts!

We're Slippery Elm users, it's also great for external irritations, think rash, dry skin, bug bites. You just drop some in hot water and let it jell up and spread it on. I learned the hard way about organ meats. I found beef kidneys and liver on sale and bought some for each dog, didn't think about ...

Re: Non Specific Environmental allergies?

Thx for the good wishes :) We're on day three of meds, the swelling seems to have gone down some but not entirely. I'll be going to the store in about half an hour to try and find some good shampoo for her, probably take her with since they're never busy sunday mornings.

Non Specific Environmental allergies?

Loki popped up a nasty red yeasty looking rash from her chin to her tail all the way down her underside and from her dewclaws up all four legs. She got it last year and we sprayed it down with a cortizone spray after washing her thoroughly and it went away, it came back twice but was manageable. Thi...

Re: Will parvo stunt at dog's growth

Two of my girls are Parvo survivors as well. Stormy seems to be about the right size for her mix, we think, it's really hard telling because she is a mix and we've never seen her parents. Loki on the other hand, we think she was affected by the disease. She was really stinking sick though, it was to...

Re: My Am Bulldog Exploded!! Help!

Gah! Almost forgot to update this thread  Chino's appointment went just fine, she's a healthy little fatass, her blood work looked just fine, and though she does have a little bit of swelling in her wrists the vet thinks that with a little weight loss the stress on the joints should be relieve...

lol I didn't even think to tell anyone about that little issue, he'd been with us well over a year but rarely slept in the bedroom with us, he always thought bedtime=playtime so we just kept him out most nights anyway lol

Re: Mischief 2 year old Pit/Lab/? ::Available::

I'm happier than a pig in poop :) I don't think he's gonna come back this time, and as happy as they were that I'd found him and he wasn't locked up in doggy jail... I think Mischief finally has his forever family. I talked to them day before yesterday, he's gone to the door to potty, has been a dre...
