Re: Sid's chubby?

Peanut's on kibble too and we're cutting back treats and going from a heaping cup (DH's idea of a cup) to almost a cup.

Now that her tapeworm is gone she seems to be pudging a bit. Not fat fat, and she has a tuck, but her ribs are invisible!

Re: What does everyone feed their dogs?

We went from Nutro Ultra -> Wellness Super5Mix -> Blue Buffalo Organic -> Castor & Pollux Organixs.

We're just now starting 100% Organixs, we were mixing w/ the last of the BB.

Re: Body language excellent example

That was interesting. Peanut is still friendly towards other dogs (she's 2.5-3 yrs old) but thank goodness has gotten over her previous rude behavior of running up to strange dogs. She sniffs and lets the other dog sniff then I usually say "Enough Peanut, let's go!" and gently lead her awa...

Re: Napoleon...

Toby is a rescue from Best Friends. He was originally neglected in a hoarding situation, sent to a shelter, sent to a rescue, sent to Best Friends. Somewhere along the way his leg was amputated for unknown reasons. I saw him online (he was in the BF magazine as a special adoption) and forwarded it t...

Re: Napoleon...

My friend's dog, Toby had one removed in winter of '08. He's a GSP and was 9 years old at the time. He had his hip replaced about 8-10 months before that. He also has chronic Valley Fever. His levels went down into the 20's before anyone realized they had a problem - he got wobbly while playing. He ...

Re: Tapeworm treatment

Meds are always expensive at our vet. And the head guy (who we don't use) has a policy against giving out prescriptions for mailorder. Sometime's they'll send a prescription to a people pharmacy.

This is one reason I thought about going to a different vet, but we really like Peanut's vet a whole lot.

Re: Tapeworm treatment

She got epsiprantel and after a discount, it was $29! They didn't charge me to look at the sample I brought in or to look at Peanut's tail where she was diagnosed with a staph infection though. Just $29 for the meds. If she gets it again I might switch to that heartworm med that kills tapeworms too ...

Tapeworm treatment

I discovered Peanut has (had) tapeworms. (EWW!) I took a sample to the vet yesterday who confirmed it was and sent me home with one dose of meds. Is it really that easy? I was expecting more than one treatment.... I brought Peanut with me to the vet cause she loves going on car rides now and loves s...

Re: How many collars does your dog have?

Peanut gets to wear her Channukah collar all 8 days, but her Christmas collar is only on for pictures - it's a jingle bell collar and drives her nuts!

Re: tricks for giving medicine

Peanut's easy, she thinks her heartworm pills are treats and I just give them to her. Her antibiotics are capsules so I don't want her chewing them so I wrap them up in cream cheese... she swallows it whole while licking my fingers for more cream cheese!

Re: How many collars does your dog have?

Peanut has her Collarmania collar, a Christmas collar, a Channukah collar, her prong collar, slip chain, her purple skunked collar and her newest, a 1/2" green collar for everyday.

My sister thinks she needs a collar for all occasions: Halloween, New Years, Valentines, Thanksgiving etc...
