Yucky swollen toe

Peanut was licking her toe Fri nite so I went to see what she was doing. Her toe was all swollen and red! Inside toe passenger side front. E Vet said abscess and gave us pain med (carprofen) and antibiotic (cefpodoxime). This is it 2 days after vet visit. A little smaller I think. She was ignoring i...

Re: Green Eye Discharge

Peanut has had that twice, July last year and June this year. Cleared right up after getting antibiotic eye drops. Peanut got hers both times after going swimming every day for a couple of weeks at a friend's pool. Go to vet.

Re: OH NOESSSSS Lady Bug steps in a fire ant mound

Awww I am glad she is feeling better! Peanut got bit once on the bottom of her foot. She levitated and I ran over to see what happened. I got bit too (duh) and we both jumped into the doggie pool!

Re: Anyone use Blue Buffalo food?

Peanut is doing great on Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown Rice. We used to get the organic version but they quit making it. We tried other food (Wellness, Organix etc) but she does best with this.

We've never tried a grain free diet for Peanut. So I can't tell you about the grain free Blue Buffalo.

Re: Plop, plop, poop

That is excellent!!!!!!!! We went thru a minor version of the poop wars when we first got Peanut. For Peanut it turns out that she has a problem with peanuts and nuts (I know peanuts are legumes). They make for horrible stinky gas and the runny poo. We also switched food till we got a good one for h...

Re: Recall, Kirkland and Taste of the Wild

The thing about this recall is that there is a chance the owner will get sick not the dog.

I think Kirkland is still better than most of the lower priced alternatives like Dog Chow.

We feed Peanut Blue Buffalo and she does fine with that.

You can hide food under a cardboard box (like an upside down shoe box...)

Re: Moth Eaten Coat

I hope she feels better soon!!!!!! Peanut had 3 staph infections when we changed her food and hasn't had one since we changed back. A friend had a German Shorthair Pointer with Addison's and when they gave her too much Pred (I guess pushing her the other way to hypo) she lost pretty much all her fur...

Re: Chronic diarrhea.

Peanut had soft or runny poop when we had her on Nutro adult food. We switched her to Wellness and that was better but ever since she has been on Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown rice she has only been runny when she has 'excita-poo' from playing too hard or with her puppy friends when she hasn't seen...

Re: switching from diamond to diamond naturals

Unless I've run out of food I make it progressive changes - even same food different version. I don't take as long to switch the food if it's similar. Like maybe 4-5 days instead of 10.

Re: Irritation in between toes, and under chin

Something else to think about - His environment. What do you wash his bedding in? We wash everything in All (or Tide) Free and Clear because we all have allergies. Don't use fabric softener. Have you had your carpets cleaned? Did they use chemicals? Does he run outside? Has the grass been sprayed wi...

Re: does your dog ever lose its balance for no reason?

It's mild and slow-mo but totally obvious - nothing violent just clear of you are watching that she's starting to tip but catches herself. I'm going to call the vet again on Monday (they close at noon on Saturdays). I'm reading more about vestibular issues now.... (ETA I looked for and did not see ...

Re: Sick puppy with explosive diarrhea!

Good luck! Yes, playing with her pup friends is enough to get Peanut runny esp if she is drinking a lot of water. She has gotten better over time with the car - we try to take her places as often as possible. She's still a wild thing in the car tho. Especially if we don't put the radio on a country ...
