It never rains but it pours ...

We went to the vet today to have him look at Peanut's swollen toe. I then showed him a place on her belly where she keeps getting a scab. She isn't messing with it but the scab falls off and leaves a dark place and then forms again. If you mess with it it bleeds. He said she has a mass there and she...

Re: Yucky swollen toe

We took her in today. Vet looked at it and said. It's infected. Duh. He said to soak it it epsom salt n water and keep giving her the meds. We soaked it tonight. I think it might look a little smaller - it started bleeding a little in the water. He will look at it again on Friday when she is sedated...

Re: Yucky swollen toe

Common sense on my part said licking was bad. And I can tell when she has been licking because the lump gets red and raw looking. That wasn't our regular vet - it was the eVet. We're at my sister's house and we used that same eVet when she got bit 2 years ago when we were up here and the vet they ha...

Re: Green Eye Discharge

So glad he is doing better!!!! Those eye drops work fast - just remember to keep using them the entire time the vet said to.

Re: Yucky swollen toe

Thanks y'all! We did look at the blow up ecollars but since it's her front paw I thought she could still reach it ... I could be wrong. I'll look into that! She isn't normally much of a licker - she didn't lick when she got spayed and when she got bit (on the meaty part of her back leg) she never li...

Yucky swollen toe

Peanut was licking her toe Fri nite so I went to see what she was doing. Her toe was all swollen and red! Inside toe passenger side front. E Vet said abscess and gave us pain med (carprofen) and antibiotic (cefpodoxime). This is it 2 days after vet visit. A little smaller I think. She was ignoring i...

Re: Green Eye Discharge

Peanut has had that twice, July last year and June this year. Cleared right up after getting antibiotic eye drops. Peanut got hers both times after going swimming every day for a couple of weeks at a friend's pool. Go to vet.

Re: OH NOESSSSS Lady Bug steps in a fire ant mound

Awww I am glad she is feeling better! Peanut got bit once on the bottom of her foot. She levitated and I ran over to see what happened. I got bit too (duh) and we both jumped into the doggie pool!

Re: Anyone use Blue Buffalo food?

Peanut is doing great on Blue Buffalo Chicken and Brown Rice. We used to get the organic version but they quit making it. We tried other food (Wellness, Organix etc) but she does best with this.

We've never tried a grain free diet for Peanut. So I can't tell you about the grain free Blue Buffalo.

Re: Plop, plop, poop

That is excellent!!!!!!!! We went thru a minor version of the poop wars when we first got Peanut. For Peanut it turns out that she has a problem with peanuts and nuts (I know peanuts are legumes). They make for horrible stinky gas and the runny poo. We also switched food till we got a good one for h...

Re: Bathroom in crate?

I just took her out again, and she went with no problem. I'm still going to make a call to the vet tomorrow and see what they have to say. My only other thought is that it's been raining here for about 5 days straight and she isn't too fond of rain (although loves the hose?), OR...we live in a semi...

Re: Recall, Kirkland and Taste of the Wild

The thing about this recall is that there is a chance the owner will get sick not the dog.

I think Kirkland is still better than most of the lower priced alternatives like Dog Chow.

We feed Peanut Blue Buffalo and she does fine with that.

Re: Plastic crates?

We have the XL Travel-Aire (we got ours at Wal-Mart). We haven't had any problems, but Peanut isn't a chewer of non food items. We have had it 4 years now.
