Re: California Natural vs. Fromm

I get that many people have concerns since Natura was bought out and I don't think they're completely unfounded. Having said that, my Shepherd mix has been eating CalNat Lamb and Rice for years. She had chronic diarrhea as a puppy while on vet food and CalNat was my "gateway" food into the...

Re: Dog..Itching Bald, raw place on back

Agreed re the vet. My Shepherd had a FAD attack once and she needed antibiotics and a steroid to help the spot heal even after the fleas were gone.

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

Yes, I can say it doesn't hurt to have it done if it is done properly. Those dogs that woke up screaming obviously didn't get the right amount of meds and get it done PROPERLY. I have never had a dog be in pain, because they were on pain meds 24/7 until they healed, point blank. You see, this whole...

No, they won't.

Well they CAN, but if you do your research and buy from a good source then they should be fine.

My roommate is a vet tech and her Pug has had pancreatitis...he does not eat a special food now but he definitely has to stay away from anything fatty or rich (treats or bully sticks etc)...

Re: Buddy Girl needs some good thoughts.

OH man your stories of Buddy (and even her pics) remind me so much of my old lady Dolly...It's been more than a year and I'm still in debt for her care but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Old dogs can be such a freaking roller coaster ride. I sometimes feel ripped off I only got to enjoy Dolly for 2...

Re: I THINK SOCKS HAS KENNEL COUGH....

From what I know about it, it is mostly a concern in people who are immunocompromised in some way. The case I had was not confirmed by c/s, but it happened when I was a shelter tech working every day with kennel cough dogs, and under a lot of stress. I had a cold that went on for weeks and weeks, en...

Re: I THINK SOCKS HAS KENNEL COUGH....

Actually Kennel Cough is a virus and doesn't respond to antibiotics. They should only be given when infection is suspected. A good cough suppressant is a must tho. Glad to hear he's getting better Kennel cough can have a whole variety of causes. It may have viral involvement, but bacteria can defin...

Re: Cash's Anxiety...

My experience is that SO many vets aren't up to date about which behavioral meds to use in which situations and when to prescribe, etc. Would seeing a veterinary behaviorist be an option for you? Best of both worlds because they can understand the medical aspect of tail trauma and have the most rec...

Re: Heart Murmer questions

I am not an expert but did they say the grade of heart murmur? I had a cat who had a murmur discovered on pre-blood donor exam, they did a cardiac ultrasound and it was not serious, just brought on by stress so it did not affect his quality of life. I also had a very senior pit bull who had a terrib...
