Meet Chunky! SWEET young Male in Eastern WA.

I LOVE this dog! He is at the Spokane Humane Society in Spokane, Washington. I am new to the area here, so I don't have any Spokane contacts/friends on Facebook that networking him would there would get much notice, so I'm hoping there may be some Eastern Washington folks on pbf that might take inte...

Re: Rescue Folks: Help please w/ Info you provide to adopter

Bullseye Rescue over here near Seattle has a ton of great literature. I'd take a look at their website :) Thanks so much Stormi. I googled and sent her the link to BullsEye, and recommended she include a blurb atop her application like this one on the BullsEye application: "Our screening proce...

Rescue Folks: Help please w/ Info you provide to adopters?

To All Rescue Folks: Do you have any kind of hand-out or info-sheet with guidelines or responsibilities of owning a pit bull, something for potential adopters? I'm helping my friend find a home for a pit bull puppy she rescued (She's exhausted all of her contacts with rescue groups, and everyone is ...

Re: Tick control for hairless dog?

I would imagine just applying it slowly so it is absorbed and doesn't rub off (I often recommend applying right before a walk for distraction) would work just fine. I did a quick search, and did not find any mention that Frontline and other oil-based products are less effective in hairless breeds. ...

Re: 2 girls from Texas

Oh, and yeah, it definitely hurts. My boyfriend already got stabbed in the hand, hahah :welcome: Welcome to PBF, your dog is super cute and looks like a love bug! I always wondered about those collars though... wouldn't it hurt the dog too? Emma likes to lie down with her chin on her paws... If she...

Re: Tick control for hairless dog?

Lyme vaccine is great, but it doesn't cover ehrlichia, anaplasma or rocky mountain spotted fever... Shoot... so the collars have to be worn at all times, and there isn't a full-proof vaccine for tick diseases? Are there any other oral medications that you know of? Or, what do you think about admini...

Re: Tick control for hairless dog?

That's interesting, I'll tell his dad to ask the vet about the Preventic collar. I always thought flea/tick collars were unsafe, but this sounds different if you get it from the vet with a prescription? Do you know if the dog has to wear the collar at all times, or just when going out on hikes, etc....

Re: Tick control for hairless dog?

The liquids are technically supposed to go on the skin. I'm thinking it would probably be somewhat easier to apply without fur :dunno: What I do when I apply is squeeze it a little and wait for it to absorb and then squeeze some more. If I don't do it that what it all turns into a glob mess on fur....

Tick control for hairless dog?

Any recommendations on a tick control product other than Advantage or Frontline? Tivi had a tick (it's removed and he's fine), but his dad wants to get him on a tick product- but I don't think the liquid type you drop on their necks would work on him since he doesn't have fur there- I think it would...

Re: Cat with open sores on face - graphic photos

Oh poor kitty, that looks painful- how could an open sore like that not hurt? Thanks for taking care of him. I agree, seems senseless to euthenize her when she seems otherwise happy. Could it be acne, or a flea allergy or ear mites traveling around the face? (I also saw something online about not us...
