Tick control for hairless dog?

Any recommendations on a tick control product other than Advantage or Frontline? Tivi had a tick (it's removed and he's fine), but his dad wants to get him on a tick product- but I don't think the liquid type you drop on their necks would work on him since he doesn't have fur there- I think it would...

Calming Collars?

I just saw this on facebook: http://www.calmingcollars.com

Anyone ever heard of them or tried theses? I'm skeptical, but curious and willing to give them a try. Thoughts?

Re: Panic/Frustration and Redireting?

I would say it's not terribly unusual at all. Everyone has their limits. It's really no different from me taking deep breaths when I get upset with my husband, because I have reasonably good self control that keeps me from yelling or starting an argument. But sometimes things go past my limits and ...

Re: Panic/Frustration and Redireting?

There was some good info on redirecting in this thread http://www.pitbullforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=144240" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Thanks Star. I did see that thread. I guess I'm just kinda wondering if redirection can be a component of fear. If it's 'normal', or at le...

Re: Panic/Frustration and Redireting?

p.s. Does anyone have any thoughts on her redirecting (when she's in this mode and starts pacing, panting, etc., she sometimes will jump up toward me, if I happen to be standing near her, and act as though she's trying to get at me with a bite. She hasn't bitten me, but it's like she's trying to... ...

Re: Panic/Frustration and Redireting?

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Not to worry, I totally agree and I NEVER correct her when she reacts fearfully. My tactic has always been to shift her focus toward something positive. I just haven't been totally succesful with it yet, so I'm going to try the treat-sprinkling, and not worry about...

Re: puppy aggression or play

There's another recent thread in this section with a similar question about puppy play vs. aggression. Check it out, there is some good feedback from some of the more dog-savvy members:

Re: Panic/Frustration and Redireting?

Don't worry about getting her to focus on you. Just shower the ground with treats. When those sounds happen, throw a handful of treats on the floor and keep 'em coming till the noise stops. EVERY time. You want to make it so that the noise means good things to her. It's just like the CER (Condition...

Panic/Frustration and Redireting?

I live in a condo with people above me. Every weekend the guy has his children stay with him and they are SO LOUD. Not voices, but stomping their feet. They have hardwood floors and no insulation, so it is really obnoxious and unsettling. They run around, jump and play non-stop, so it’s a constant t...

Re: Cat with open sores on face - graphic photos

Oh poor kitty, that looks painful- how could an open sore like that not hurt? Thanks for taking care of him. I agree, seems senseless to euthenize her when she seems otherwise happy. Could it be acne, or a flea allergy or ear mites traveling around the face? (I also saw something online about not us...

Re: Veronica & her Nina Ottosson puzzle

Wow, Veronica is a smart girl! I'm amazed at how easily it seemed to come to her to pull those top brown squares down with her paw. Nice work V! I have a feeling my Emma would be fumbling around a lot more with this! Lol

Oh no! I thought he was in the lead... booo! I'll continue to pimp him out :). I've posted a separate thread in the General section, hope that's okay.

I'm sure Angela will be posting this too with more details, but TIVI made it to the final five in the Sun River contest!
