Re: Puppy Food Suggestions

Thanks for all the suggestions. After much research, I thought I would give Natural Balance a try. Hopefully, this should clear up some allergies my puppy's been having. What makes you think he has allergies? Is puppy itchy? It's not common for food allergies to show up in puppies but the earlier o...

Re: Raw feeding books/sites

If you start now and peruse the stores keep the meat you find to under $1.50 or so a lb you will be under what quality kibble costs. Just grab a freezer, start putting it away when you find it. You would not believe the haul I have been getting lately. Hit up anyone you know that is a hunter or butc...

Re: Raw feeding books/sites

If you go onto the raw feeding group on yahoo and tell them what you are feeding they will help you either adjust or readjust. To start .... give a bonier meal this helps stave off cannon butt There are several different views on raw feeding I took what I liked what I read was best and formulated my...

Re: Examples of BARF/RAW menus

Zila is allergic to ALL processed foods whether Orijen or Alpo, it does not matter. Raw has been our saving grace. Red meat liver is richer and has more Vit A so I feed less of it. You can feed a bit more chicken livers or light meat livers. All in all though when you get the swing of things it is s...

Re: Examples of BARF/RAW menus

Are you feeding a really high quality food?? If so you can switch to raw chubs from a local pet store for relatively the same cost OR you can watch local grocery stores and when prices for meat drop to below $1.40lb snag up what you can (way cheaper than chubs). Liver and other organs are pretty che...

Re: Opinions on Iams Prescription Food

Entirely unrelated, but I'm curious about the Kangaroo meat. Do they have Kangaroo farms somewhere or something? I never knew there was dog food with kangaroo in it. Sounds exotic :) There is a guy from another forum that lives in Australia and he feeds it to his dogs says it gives them horrendous ...

Re: Examples of BARF/RAW menus

This is a haul we just got from a friend, I just package it up and mix it up.... I usually keep to an 80 10 10 ratio 80% muscle meat, which includes heart tongue and gizzard 10% organ 10% bone Oh and the occasional goat head! LOL The fat slabs were a treat, they were helping me package everything up...
