Re: I had a very bad incident today; need help!

I really think that dogs pick up on our emotional state, and you indicated that the stay in Saudi Arabia is not working out quite as you had expected. The change in lifestyle has got to be a major stress point for you, and for Paris. My suggestion would be to have her on a longer leash/lure, when yo...

Re: Whole earth farms canned food

It was very frightening (and reported to the FDA); Trusty has always been a very slender dog, and the rapid weight loss that came with the disease was terrifying. After a few days of an array of orals and daily sub-c fluids, he slowly resumed eating, that is, I literally spoon fed him. Quite frankly...

Re: Whole earth farms canned food

I am not any help, because I am totally not a fan of their products. When Trusty came down with acute pancreatitis in 2009, he was on one of their Before Grain kibbles, and the vet suspected that it was the cause. Again, suspected it - not a definite, but we could not come up with any other cause. C...

Re: Need Dog Obedience Trainer Recommendations

I would be happy to recommend our trainer, who is also a degreed animal behaviorist. She practices in the Long Beach and Cerritos area (but meets with clients at their homes within a reasonable distance for private sessions/evaluations.

PM me, if you would be interested in her contact info.

Re: HA Potential? *video

The vid clip won't load for me. But my suggestion would be to discuss this with the trainer you will see later this month. In the meantime, don't set her up again for failure by putting her in a situation that allows her to make her own decision(s) and when she apparently is making it clear that she...

Re: Lucky needs a foster or home

He is gorgeous.

Wish I had room, I'd foster him in a second.

It would be a perfect match: gimpy legged lady with gimpy legged dog :)

I so hope that magic happens for him, and a good bully home comes along.

Re: Tell me about CET chews

This is the best product for teeth that I know of: http://www.plaqueoff.com/for-animals" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Ditto to that one. We have used 'Plaque Off' for years and with excellent results. Even as our dogs age (Esperanza is now about 10 years old), their teeth look wond...

Re: Help Me With My Newly Adopted Puppy.

Gentle, leash walks - she is still growing :) "Listen" to signals that she gives that she may be tired (such as flopping down during a walk), and allow her to rest.

Congrats - she is adorable!

Re: Stage 5 T-cell lymphoma

I am so sorry, what a dreadful start of the new year for you and yours ...

Can you possibly consult (jointly with the attending vets at the university) with a local vet, who specializes in naturopathy? That might create a path for palliative support, while she undergoes chemo ...

Re: Meatball....yes Meatball SW Michigan

Thank you for the info - what it is with people and having kids ... and the dog(s) suffer? My MIL had 10 kids, and there was always a dog as part of the family during all those years (GSDs or Rotts). I don't think that she or her husband would have ever considered 'getting rid' of the canines ... or...

Poor boy - what a nightmarish 'forever' home that was :wow

Glad that he is recuperating and safe with you. How long did these people have him (if it's mentioned, my apologies)?
