Re: Guess we'll need a doggie door

@ Sarah - Ganymede loves to sun bathe, but he's a happy indoor dog lol .. but i think that maybe an enclosed area for him w/ access to the house thru a doggie door would work... we just have to make it look good so no one will complain and make sure it doesn't peek over the fence.

Re: Guess we'll need a doggie door

If you are building your home, what I would do then is have a doggie door that opens to a secure, covered area -- a place where the dog can "potty" but not have free roam of the yard. Perhaps you can turn the covered patio into a sun room and then have a side area off shoot that's an encl...

Do you buy these types of kennels or build them yourself? I'm trying to find info online about outdoor kennels.

Re: Guess we'll need a doggie door

My dogs hold it 13 hours when I work 12 hour shifts. They seem fine. Maybe he could hold it for that long, but would he...that's the ultimate question. This house is our first home and an investment, it might be unfair to believe he wouldn't make a mess here and there after 12 hrs. And i know i wou...

Re: Guess we'll need a doggie door

@ GoingPostal - When Ganymede gets worked up, he barks then runs to the door so we'll let him in. Right now we have a chain-link fence, he can see everything and sometimes he'll bark at the guys doing the landscaping in the area or a strange dog, but it seems if he can't see it... he isn't bothered...

Guess we'll need a doggie door

Where we are renting now we can come home for lunch and let Ganymede out to potty, chase a ball and sunbathe. He gets an hour of that before we head back to work. But.. now we are in the process of buying our first home, which is too far from work for us to come home for lunch. Ganymede will be home...

Re: "Rehab" Puppy

I hope it goes well. Hopefully, the SPCA will support the new owners with training and follow-up. Thank you for what you did to help Nero! It's fulfilling. The work is never done, though. We already have another timid/fearful dog form another rescue to work with. Luckily, Ganymede is a great sport ...

Re: "Rehab" Puppy

Well, seems the SPCA has no issues whatsoever adopting their pups out....because.... Nero found a home! We did all we could to help him get comfortable with humans and passed along all that we've learned. I hope Nero blossoms to be a super confident and happy boy. I will remember to apply all this n...

Re: "Rehab" Puppy

Awesome. Thank you Amie. This is what we have slowly been trying to accomplish with Nero. He is off and on with us. Nero will come up and lick our hands and sit or lie down next to us randomly but if we stand up or move, he'll freak out and run off. It'll be super rewarding when he finally begins to...

Re: "Rehab" Puppy

I know this isn't the exact situation you have, but your post made me think of this video by the great Sophia Yin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI13v9JgJu0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; That was really interesting. Thank you for sharing that with me! The pup - who we named Nero, ...

"Rehab" Puppy

I got a call earlier this week from one of the local rescues I work with about some puppies that need a good foster home. Puppies in need of "rehab." My husband drove over to the rescue to pick up the last puppy this afternoon. We were told he's approximately 10 weeks old. From what my hus...
