Re: Any home remedies for uti?

When she pees is it really dark yellow or have blood in it? Does it smell really bad? If you haven't got that horrible smell or blood yet then it isn't super bad...yet. The stuff I mentioned works well with a mild or severe case and can be given with medication to help, but you'll only see it help t...

Re: Any home remedies for uti?

If it's a mild case, you can give pure cranberry on the food (I get the capsules so I can open them to sprinkle on the food), or if she will drink it you can give about a glass of cranberry juice. Also apple cider venigar helps. I usually put a teaspoon full in 3 cups of water and mine will drink it...

Re: New puppy, 1/2 pitbull, 1/4 staff, 1/4 rottweiler

Why would you "purchase" a mutt when you could rescue/adopt one just like it from the shelter? And they would be completely vetted and spay/neutered already. Why support someone that did a breeding such as this and encourage them to continue making mutt puppies? The temperament of this dog...

Re: Hello from Massachusetts

Welcome! You sound like you are on the right track! Jamie posted some really good links for you. The info in them have helped many of us here. We were all noobies at one point :) Hope you enjoy it here! P.S. She also looks red/red fawn to me, not blue, but it could be the lighting. I would also cons...

Re: Anal gland question

Ah ok! I was hoping it'd be like a massage/stretch/exercise I could do with her to help lol she has a slight roach back, not bad or anything but I notice she is more arched around that 4 week or so mark.

Re: Anal gland question

LMW can you elaborate on the chiropractic thing? I'd like to know how to help Curly so she doesn't need this so often. Thanks! I love all of your posts!

Re: what age to spay?

I prefer to spay prior to first heat cycle for many reasons. This is usually at the 6 month mark. Reasons are: after 1st heat chance of mamory gland cancer increases (my senior has this) after second heat it increases drastically, heat cycles are disgusting (blood and the smell!), behavior changes, ...

Re: New and confused

Please keep them separated. Dog aggression is very common in the breed, and siblings tend to have many issues together. It is never advised for a novice to start with a pit bull, much less siblings. For now, just keep them separated until I can approve you to get more advice in the Behavior section....

Re: Im at a dead end

Please be very careful using a prong if that is your choice. I personally don't agree with it because the cons outweigh the pros, but that's your choice. I used to use a prong on Curly a long time ago...and then I realized what it was doing to her and the risks of it. If prongs are not fitted correc...

Re: Anal gland question

The anal gland fluid smells horrid. I have to take curly to the vet every 3 weeks to have hers done because they fill really fast and I can't stand to do it myself. Makes me want to throwup! The coloring you describe is similar to what hers looks like. Sometimes if I wait longer than 3 weeks she wil...
