Re: Lots of face scratching.....

Revolution does I think... Maybe also Advantage multi. I thought they only covered ear mites in cats since the mites are species specific, and that ear mites in dogs are so rare... ? Ear infections will cause the itchy and painful ears too. It's best to see a vet to determine the best course of tre...

Re: Hello!!! I'm about to adopt and have a few questions.

I just wanted to add... Any breed of dog isn't fully mature until (at least) 3 years of age. You can have a good idea of the dog's personality and temperament before that, but it takes a special kind of person with a ton of canine behavior knowledge to make a good assesment before maturity. I have n...

Re: Hello!!! I'm about to adopt and have a few questions.

Many people here have multi dog homes, but most everyone will tell you to seperate the dogs when you are not there to supervise. Even dogs that are best friends will have disagreements from time to time, and if no one is around to say knock it off, you could very well come home to severly injured or...

Ear infection article...

Very interesting article in the Whole Dog Journal on ear infections. Just thought I would share.

Re: Dog Dandruff

Use a moisturizing shampoo made for dogs, an oatmeal formula is usually best. Make sure to rinse well, and rinse with luke-cool water so you don't dry out the skin. This, and dilute the shampoo. 1/2 shampoo, 1/2 water (or more). It doesn't need to be full strength to work, and it rinses out more ea...

That's exactly it. They want people to take whole colonies.

If I would have known, I would have said hi this morning!

Re: treadmill help.

I didn't have mine anywhere near that fast, 3 or so miles per hour, for twenty to thirty minutes, one dog at a time. The only downside is that it's really boring, just sitting there feeding them for an hour, and I don't get any exercise. I am hoping my husband can just replace the motor on mine. My...

Re: How do you turn it off?

For me personally, I read fiction, usually paranormal, and completely immerse myself in that book. I get a complete break from reality for at least a couple of hours. The other thing I love doing is going to dog shows. It really helps to spend the day talking dog with the other end of the spectrum. ...

Re: Universal Pet Peeves

Oh! My personal favorite...

The owner holding their dog as it snarls and lunges at us going... "It's ok baby, it's ok." and petting it. With a sad look at us and saying he's just shy or I don't know why he acts like this.

Re: Universal Pet Peeves

My outdoor only cat isn't feral. He/she (they are never sure which) lets me touch him/her. Well it did take him a year before he did let me touch him and he won't let me pick him up, but he isn't feral. What do you mean I have to get up in the middle of the night to let my puppy out?! He's 11 weeks ...

Re: California Natural vs. Fromm

I feed red meats (Vi won't touch poultry in any form) and fish. I just peel the "rind" off and save it or sell it back to another person in my co-op. They are eating venison right now, so it isn't a big concern since its so lean. I haven't ventured to pork yet. If you are part of a co-op, ...

Re: California Natural vs. Fromm

I used to use the Whitefish formula and it's 12% or maybe 14% tops. Their Gold Weight Management is 10%.

I have since switched my pancreatitis candidate to a raw diet, because I can control exactly how much fat she is really getting.

Where did you get him from? Do you have vet documented proof of vaccines? Recent fecal test?

Re: Wally!!! SE MI

With serious training he could. Right now he is just an extremely energetic goober, and his current foster just doesn't have the time or ability to work with him like he needs. If you wanted to give him a try, we do offer adoption trials. That way you would have a few weeks to decide.
