Re: Wally!!! SE MI

To the right home they would be ok with younger kids. He is just a big, high energy dog. It's not that he wouldn't be ok with kids, he would most likely knock them over.

Re: Is there a way to make a bone appetizing again?

That could be the problem, since she isn't hungry and a raw bone is food. One raw knuckle bone is equivalent to at least one meal. Maybe try giving her a bone instead of dinner one night and see how long she will chew on it?

Re: Is there a way to make a bone appetizing again?

Put it in the freezer and bring it back out in a week or so.

Try femur bones... One of my dogs hates knuckle bones, but loves femur bones.

Are you giving the bone as dinner or in addition to dinner?

Re: Coats and PJs......

Lucy will shiver and request a coat or sweater in the winter. She started wanting one about 3 years ago, I just figure her old lady body can't regulate temperature as well as she used to. Vi just wants whatever Lucy gets. She is my little heater and only really needs a coat if we are training outsid...

I get mine from a local source at the farmers market, but here is a link to the Dr. Harvey's version.

Re: Duke and Duke's Mama

The whole "other side of the fence" thing can backfire and cause a whole new set of problems with barrier frustrations/aggression. Your best bet is him having a few select friends that he can play with in a controlled environment. Dogs really don't need a bunch of friends, most are happier...

Re: Plop, plop, poop

Have you considered doing a raw diet? Or adding bone meal/ raw bone to the diet may help. Whenever Vi has loose stools I give her a raw meaty bone for dinner and it clears up. I know it's not the same as what you are dealing with, but I'm just throwing out suggestions. Another thought would be to ad...

Re: Help with way to happy tail?

To get a bandage to stick better, shave the hair off past the spot you need to tape. The tape will stick better. Also, ask your vet for a roll of tape. The stuff sold at the store doesn't stick as well. For a hard barrier, take a pill bottle and cut the bottom off. Cover the edges with tape or sand ...

All About Animals also regularly runs a transport from Flint, and we bring our mobile surgery unit out there too. We have an upcoming surgery day in Flushing set for Oct 1st. $80 dogs $40 cats $15 vac...

I'm not sure about elk powder, but if you want something holistic I suggest bee pollen. My mom has rhumatoid arthritis and she was doing research on adding holistic remedies to her treatment. The Arthritis Foundation has bee pollen on their list, so she tried it. It's worked miracles for her. After ...

Re: Hello from Wisconsin!!

Congrats on the new addition! Check out ukcdogs.com or akc.org for more info on registering an altered (spayed/neutered) dog so you can compete in dog sports! The UKC site also has some good info on the sports themselves. The best way to get involved is to attend a show or trial by you as a spectato...

Re: demodex

Depends on the severity and treatment type.

Keep in mind, in times of high stress or illness the symptoms of demodex can reoccur. Demodex is genetic, and while some dogs have no other problems, some may have other immuno-deficiency disorders. It's not something to panic over, just be aware of it.

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

Actually.... All 3 major kennel clubs (AKC, UKC, ADBA) state: UKC- EARS - Ears are high set and may be natural or cropped without preference. Prick or flat, wide ears are not desired. AKC- Ears - Cropped or uncropped, the latter preferred. Uncropped ears should be short and held rose or half prick. ...
