Handling stress and burn out

Just wondering how you other folks doing foster/rescue work deal with the stressed, overwhelmed and burn out feelings? Due to personal things going on in my life right now, along with multi-fostering and my own dogs I am feeling VERY stressed. Every day seems a challenge to hang on and stay in contr...

Scout, sounds good, I like it! I like to try and keep the new names sounding kind of like the old ones. He is a very handsome boy.

New foster needs new name

Currently his name is Scud. He needs a new name. Any suggestions? He is not available for adoption yet, this boy needs to learn some manners first! http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h276/wildwobin/scud002.jpg http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h276/wildwobin/scud001.jpg

Pup and Vaccinations

Leo came from a horrible shelter environment, we have had him for six days now. He appears to be 8-10 weeks old. We took him directly from the shelter to the vet to be checked. He has had his first set of shots and been wormed. So far his health seems good. He is gaining weight, (he was definently u...

Adoption day chaos

This is for those of you that hold "adoption days" I have noticed that on our adoption days at Petco it seems to get chaotic and crowded with folks who "stop" by to visit with their dogs. Our area we have to use is fairly small and it gets CROWDED. How do you handle this? Ask fol...

Gilleagan the incredible melting dog

Yes, Gilleagans only fault we can find is he tends to "melt" and fall down on his back if there is a chance he might get petted! This guy is just a big squishy love bug. Lots of kisses in this boy! Does great with the resident dogs (m+f) and as you can see the cats! Crate training was a sn...

He really did find the perfect adopter for him, and I am happy for that.

Somwhere in the back of my mind I had the idea that he would never get adopted and I would "have" to keep him!!

How to say Goodbye....

I try to not get terribly attached to the fosters. But Gabriel has done stolen my heart. We connected in the best way, this awesome big huggable goofy lug of a dog and me. So it looks like it's time to say goodbye, and it's killin me! :frown: :frown: Here I go with the darn tears again.......... :cr...

Adopt Me Vests

I got a couple of Adopt Me vests a few weeks ago. I have been taking advantage of all the Christmas crowds of shoppers and have been taking the fosters downtown and walking on the weekends with their vests on. I can't believe the attention we get when the dogs wear their vests. It has been a great &...

I'm not sure what vertabra it was cut at. It looks like maybe just a little of a third? of his tail is gone. The vet I go to is not the vet that did the surgery. I've been bandaging it with gauze held on with tape so the air can get to it. He would chew it off if he could, so I have to watch him lik...

I was hoping that when the vet decided to cut the tail it would be a short dock, but no such luck. So, I have been letting him air out (unwrap the tail) a little in the day and then at night. (dont tell on me but he has been sleeping with me so I can keep an "eye" on him and his tail at ni...
