Re: Temporary Blindness? A seizure?

Ok. Back from the vet. She found that Maui shows some pain/weakness in L10 & L11 (probably has nothing to do with the episode this past weekend, maybe arthritis?) and she was slow on her proprioception test (sorry if thats spelled wrong, it's where her back feet are flipped over and she has to c...

Re: Shots...

How I would treat my rescue dogs: Diggy: One DA2PP vaccine, 3 year rabies, and bordetella Duke: Two DA2PP vaccines 2-3 weeks apart, 1 year rabies, and bordetella Sue: Two DA2PP vaccines 2-3 weeks apart, 1 year rabies, and bordetella I say 1 year rabies for the younger two, since you don't know if Su...

Re: Temporary Blindness? A seizure?

Thank you so much. It was so scary to watch. This dog is my life. I felt so helpless watching her. Such a terrible feeling.

Temporary Blindness? A seizure?

Hey everyone. I wanted to get some opinions on what happened with Maui this past Saturday night. Before anyone flips a lid, I was in contact with my friend (the head tech at my vet office) during the whole ordeal and we have an appointment with our new vet today. A little background...Maui is a fema...

Re: build a book list!

There's a set of three books that are truly all encompassing for dog behavior. Handbook of Applied Dog Behavior and Training Steven R. Lindsay (Author) I own Vol 2 & 3. I need to buy the first one, but at almost $100 I'm not sure I'll be able to for awhile. Amazon's price for all three volumes: ...

Re: You know what I've noticed???

I live in a city where there are a few pit bull owners. Ok, quite a few. And my trainer is one of the ONLY trainers is this area. Honestly, she's worked with MAAAYYYBBEEE two other pit bulls before she worked with Ella. This leads me to one conclusion: Not enough pit bull owners in my area are both...

Re: BEST TRAINING TREAT

My every day training treats are Zuke's mini naturals. Slightly higher is NB rolls. And the 'big money' treats are boiled chicken or cheese cubes. Maui will work for lettuce (seriously...) but Magnum and especially Mako are a bit more picky about what is worth working for!

Re: Tricolor Girl Needs Home!

Trinity was transferred to another rescue since her foster home was leaving (she's a teacher, travels during the summer), and I had nowhere for her to go. The rescuer is a dear friend, and may already have placement for her! I only have Peanut left now, and have two really good applications on her. ...

Re: secure kennel water bowl thoughts?

If the problem is solely tipping of the bowl and not chewing, this would work great. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754647" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This is exactly what I use for all of my puppy crates (and my skunk too!) They work great and I've never ha...
