Re: What do you get when you cross a pit bull with an orangutan?

Oh, those two are waay too cute! I really did think they were sedated, lol. Everytime I walked in there they had their tongues sticking out with their heads on the floor! I've never seen a pit bull type dog with long hair before either. He's so goofy looking. roflmao Do you know how much longer they...

Re: Looking for foster in MD!

That's so great Amie! :) Thank you so much! I was told when I first started volunteering there to not get emotionally attached to the dogs, but you just can't help it. And that allows you to pick up on things like that. I'm so happy that Bacardi may find a home! I think it's near impossible to meet ...

Looking for foster in MD! ADOPTED!

I volunteer at the BARCS animal shelter in baltimore, md., and there is a dog that has been there since January that really needs help. I have shared him on this site a few times before. His name is Bacardi, and when he first got into the shelter at the end of Jan., he had so much spunk! He would cu...

Re: "Fit" or skinny?

Thanks everyone! :) This has turned into a very interesting/knowledgable thread. I guess to someone that is so used to seeing the average dog (me), they could appear as skinny. But now I can see what you mean with muscle mass or lack there of. Could keeping a larger breed dog conditioned like that a...

Re: "Fit" or skinny?

Ok, I think I see now. Thank you! It's amazing to me how many things there are to learn. So, if you had a normal activity dog (walk, fetch, hiking, etc) you probably wouldn't condtion them like that? Or some people just like keeping their dogs in tip top shape?

Re: "Fit" or skinny?

Thanks. :) I'm glad that it is normal. And I agree, there are SOOO many overweight dogs in the world. But that's not quite what I was talking about, or I don't think it is. It's usually pretty easy to tell when a dog is overweight. This is what I was talking about. http://www.pitbullforum.com/viewto...

"Fit" or skinny?

I'm fairly new to the world of the APBT and I have to say, most of these "fit" or "ripped" dogs I see look pretty darn skinny. Why is this desirable? You can see their vertibrate, their ribs, they look emaciated except that they have muscles, where's the body fat? It just concern...

Future Pitbull Owner

Hello, My name is Brittney. I am 20 years old and live in Baltimore MD. I am currently a college student, and am considering volunteering at my local animal shelter this summer. I currently have 7 chinchillas, a Lhasa Apso named Misty, and a green cheeked conure. I am here because I have fallen in l...
