Re: Maybe not dog aggressive afterall...?

I'm sorry if I missed this answer in your original post, but..
You stated that the adoption agency asked you to allow her to be around the puppies, obviously to see her reaction. But why were you considering a puppy when all along you thought your dog had dog agression?

Re: HELP: Stange heat behavior from both dogs

There is no growling towards any one. As a matter of fact because hes so "on endge" hes even listening better than he has in a loong time. As soon as you reprimand he goes trotting into another room until he hears her collar again. For the most part though hes trying to behave himself, but...

Re: HELP: Stange heat behavior from both dogs

Postal, I agree she seems to just want to paly, like she always does. My male has this thing (even when he smells her normally) he puts his lips together like as if hes smell-tasting something over and over. Chaos is normal around him. She is jumping on him to play a lil' more than regular, but not ...

Re: HELP: Stange heat behavior from both dogs

Thats interesting. I had done quite a bit of research on this matter and had read that the loss of testosterone would cause it in an older dog. I wanted him neutered originally when I got my female spayed. But this was against that vet, and the vet that spayed her opinions. Both come highly recommen...

Re: HELP: Stange heat behavior from both dogs

Actually, the neutering is unlikely to cause behavioral changes in a mature dog, and now is when there starts being some health benefits to being neutered. He would not gain weight if you don't overfeed him. (might need a bit less food) This is a 6-yr-old dog who was neutered at 4 years: http://www...

Re: HELP: Stange heat behavior from both dogs

It will hurt because when a dog goes into heat everything down there expands (swells for her) to allow penetration. The dogs can connect , but it will be painful as she obviously isnt going through heat. My vet suggested not doing it because he was OLDER, not too young. Hes 6 years old. no breeding ...

Re: HELP: Stange heat behavior from both dogs

Ugh, thats horrible. I did google than a spayed female and even a neutered male could get connected but she cant get pregnant, BUT IT WILL HURT HER.No he is not neutered. It was discussed with our vet, who at the time suggested NOT doing it. Our male is almost 6, and I was told his persona will chan...

Re: HELP: Stange heat behavior from both dogs

I just made an apt for Jan 2, earliest they had on a weekend. But is this normal behavior?? Am i over reacting? Should I expect this regularly? They are both ACTING fine health wise, i know that doesnt mean there isnt something wrong but he just stands by her cage and whines and pants. Its making me...

HELP: Stange heat behavior from both dogs

Hello everyone, I hope this post doesnt come off as completely retarded but here goes... two days ago my intact male started sniffing EVERYTHING in the house. He was going into my closet, the playroom, spots on the carpet and he was also acting a little weird towards Chaos (my spayed female). He kep...

Re: Found Pit Mix in South Florida

Melody, you can halt all attempts for a foster home. I dont know full circumstances, but the dog was not anywhere to be found at the barn today. I dont know if she was inside, chained, loose... but i got a text at 7 am saying the dog was gone, either left or stolen . Im thankful foor all good vibes ...

Re: Found Pit Mix in South Florida

No. I've been doing this all behind the scenes. I havent even met her. She staying at my friends barn. And i was just informed she will be giving her until the end of the weekend before taking her to the shelter. I have one person looking for their cousin to adopt her, I just dont want her to end up...

Re: Found Pit Mix in South Florida

He definitely knows, And if something like that came up, I'd report him for animal abuse and neglect. He's lucky I'm not oging to as it is because my only goal is to find her a good, loving home.

Re: Found Pit Mix in South Florida

OMG, even worse, I found out the Owner is known. Its my friends neighbors, daughters, boyfriend's. He threw the dog out on the streets, shes barely 30 lbs. So no need to see if her owner is looking for her at the shelter. :po:

Re: Found Pit Mix in South Florida

One woman lived at home with just herself , had a yard, but no money to care for a dog. The one guy said he had a family, an unaltered ...
