Re: Help Needed getting puppies from CA to MN

I'm sorry if this is a no-no, but is it against forum rules to ask for help with raising money for the puppies to get here? I read, and couldn't find anything on it. I'm sure there is something that is very obvious that I'm missing... but I can't see it.

Re: Help Needed getting puppies from CA to MN

Good news. I got in contact with someone who actually knows what she's doing, knows what to do, and knows people to do it! She said that she's found a puller, and a place to board them until they can be transported. She is still stuck on the transport thing, but has leads. She even got a chip-in to ...

Re: Help Needed getting puppies from CA to MN

I know  I hate this! There's nothing I can do until someone calls me back. And I don't even know if the person who is in the area, that I called, will even get my message! Someone else answered the phone and seemed quite reluctant to hear what I was calling about. Everything so far has led to s...

Re: Meet Snickers! Deaf puppy with pleanty of 'tude

That's great news!!!

Stormi, random question slightly off topic. When training a deaf dog, how do you get their attention?

Help Needed getting puppies from CA to MN

So I was looking at my facebook the other day. I have the rescue group I got my dogs from on there, and they often get tagged on "urgent" animals in shelters across the US. That day I came across the pictures of 3, 12 week old puppies. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=28844&id=100...

Re: Asking for help from Minnesota residents

I live about a mile away from good ol' MOA, hehe. The ren fest is AWESOME! My fiance and I are getting season passes this year, and (....we're huge nerds, sue us >.> ) Having our wedding there this fall. Well, if you have a free bit of time while you're in the cities and would like an opportunity fo...

Re: Asking for help from Minnesota residents

Bah, you know, I some how forgot about them. I have a SN there but haven't been on for a while.

Where do you happen to be? I live directly south of Minneapolis, in Bloomington. (Well, that area at least :P)

Re: Running away problems

Have you worked with the "Come" command at all with her? Turning it into a good thing when she comes to you, instead of you chasing after her (a game to her), or (Yes I'm guilty of this one as well some times) getting your angry voice on when you're trying to grab her?

Asking for help from Minnesota residents

I don't know if anyone remembers now days, but a while back I had posted about my dog Spud having a few incidents with people on the other side of a gate/fence from him. (Kids teasing/throwing stuff at him, and the roomate and mother hitting/scaring the crap out of him.) Since seeing the behaviorist...

Re: Spud is a delicate flower.

oh jeeze! Sud is really strong, so I could see him doing that. That is the scariest thing ever. When we first got him, he had one of those safety release collars the foster home had him wear. We got him out into the parking lot (we picked him up at the adoption event at Petco), he saw a dog, pulled,...

Re: Spud is a delicate flower.

It's all the time, so we try to let him run around without his collar as much as possible. He has a ton of extra skin on his neck, and it the collars seem to bug him because the folds bunch up around it so much. No I haven't tried a rolled leather collar, haven't seen that kind in the pet supply sto...

Re: Spud is a delicate flower.

The petsmart and petco near me don't carry hemp collars. :( They carry leather, nylon, and metal (choke chain/pinch/ect) type collars and that's it. I actually forgot about hemp collars too!

Spud is a delicate flower.

I'm not sure where to put this post, so sorry guys. My Spud is a little sissy dog. His being a delicate flower has also affected his ability to wear a collar. Leather collars irritate him. The nylon collar I have no irritates him, though not as much as the leather. When we adopted him he had a cloth...

Re: Thanks, roommate.

Finally an update! The behaviorist came yesterday and spent 3 hours with Spud and me. We talked at length, and of course she evaluated Spud. She said that whatever the roommate and her mother did was very traumatic to him, and that he needs to re-learn that hands are good and not going to hurt him. ...

Re: Thanks, roommate.

I emailed her, and she emailed me back. She seems really good, but I've been waiting for a response back from her since Sunday night. I know I'm being impatient, but arg.
