Re: Mutant fleas...

I wash the dog bed pillows also. Beds neve last long in this house so I wash them a time or two and replace them. We are really lucky and don't have carpet in this house. I haven't experienced a flea issue this year or ever. Kale reacted badly to fleas and ticks. Maven was burnt once by Advantix, bu...

The hind end thing

Maven has a long history of having "issues" with her LH. She has had 2 repairs (luxating patella) and two hardware removals. She was doing quite well but one day Ari was zooming and she took an awkward step, yelped and wa barely weight bearing on the LH. I rushed her to the ortho and we di...

Re: Flea and Tick Meds

I don't know which is worse, a proven safe topical medication (choose from the SAFE ones, advantage, frontline, revolution) or an infestation of blood-sucking, disease carrying parasites that can take 3-5 months to get rid of once you have them in your home. Up north, maybe I'd chance it... but in ...

Re: sores

I used to wrap Kale in a piece of an old "no bow" bandage or sheet cotton and use loose vetwrap or sport tape. Pop a little antibiotic ointment on the padding of choice, and it works like a charm!

Re: These damn puppies are going to be the death of me.

Ari must put everything in his mouth. I believe my laptop chord and a little zap might have cured him of chewing on chords. My Blue tooth is missing and unless it is somewhere in my mess of a truck i have a feeling it is in Ari. I do have additional grey hair since Ari came into my life. He LOVES my...

Re: Kibble help

Lord. I am feeding Orijen large breed, human grade fish oil, and have recently added a bit of Acana for Ari. He is so shiny and healthy looking. If he were a horse he'd have dapples from head to toe ;) BUT I do wonder if it is the best option. I don't know that I can do raw. Meat/bones gross me out....

Re: Knee surgery for Emma tomorrow...

Eww. Luxating patella is my nightmare. Maven had the first surgery. It went well. She went shocky when the fentinyl patch was removed. She was in major pain in 10 days and back in for a second surgery 14 days after the first. Two hardware removals and I have to be very careful what I do with her. Sh...

Re: Help! Surgical incision starting to open 4 months post-op?

Kale had a laceration that would heal and then just rip open again with very little reason to and then gush blood. It would look to be perfectly healed from the outside but I guess it really wasn't healing under that skin.
In hindsight, it did sort of answer a question or two about his health.
