Re: B.A.R.F. 101

I have learned to shop around.. I spend about 80 to 90 a month.. but that feeds 4 dogs who each eat between 1 to 2 pounds a piece. My advice would be to do your research and check out & compare prices from your local meat markets.. also you can join different yahoo groups to see what else is ava...

Re: Pitbulls unde 6 months old

I agree with Fran.. My boy Scar just turned 2 and is now finally starting to fill in and look his age. He was very leggy when he was younger and has always been on the skinnier side. Same thing as my puppy Salem. She was a chunky thing when she was smaller.. but the closer she got to a year old the ...

Re: Foods

We feed only Raw. I started almost 2 months ago and although it can be a pain at times I absolutely love it. My dogs coats are beautiful and they just seem happier overall. I lucked out and found a Meat store close by that has all sorts of goodies for the dogs.. and really good prices. I end up spen...

Re: To neuter or not..

Everyone is going to have differnt opinions on this. We got Scar neutered at 15 weeks and he has matured just fine. I have also seen puppies get fixed as young as 8 weeks and do just fine.

Ugly nails

Scar has a beautiful coat and is in great condition body wise.. but his nails are horrendous. They crack easily and are a littlered towards the base.. which I have been told is yeast. Is there any supplement or additional thing I can give him to help his nail health? He gets a bath once a week and g...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Thanks for the pork shoulder info. Mine did great with the pork neck bones.. and really seemed to enjoy it. Pork shoulder is always on sale at our local grocery store.. so I will add that to my list of meats to get them. :peace:

Re: fish antibiotics

If you lived closer to Tampa I would recommend the vet I go to. She adores pitbulls and is great with them. She is also good about giving prescriptions and not forcing you to buy the ones in her office.

Re: At what point should I start to really worry

Thank you guys for all of your help yesterday.. spoke with my vet last night.. she agreed that he was probably holding it since his last poop had been diarrhea. She also told me that when he gets the runs it will be normal for him to sometimes not want to poop for 24-48 hours. Especially when introd...

Re: At what point should I start to really worry

The liver is about the size of a quarter. I also have chicken hearts that I can give them instead of the liver & chicken gizzards.. but the gizzards are considered muscle not organ right? They are getting about 1 pound a day. The goat meat has no bone. Should I maybe take the chicken off the bo...

Re: At what point should I start to really worry

how big is a 'small piece' of liver? are they getting (or going to get) any other organ meat? I also have bagged up for them, chicken backs, chicken necks, turkey wing, turkey neck, goat meet, and pork neckbone. careful with portions! a number of those items are VERY bone-heavy. acctually, they're ...

Re: At what point should I start to really worry

What exactly are you feeding them...or did you feed them prior to the "no poop". I'm not anywhere near experienced in RAW but I know if you give too much bone it can constipate them easily. I would imagine feeding him something with more fiber would work, but that could just be the human ...

At what point should I start to really worry

We started our pack on RAW almost 2 weeks ago. Everything until had been going fine. On sunday they each had a small sliver of beef liver. Everyone handled it just fine except for Scar. He had the runs 2 times on Sunday and hasn't gone poopie since then. He is eating and drinking just fine.. but no ...
