Question about Dasuquin

Hi, I have been giving Blu Gyco Flex 3 since his surgery. However, the maintenance dose is 1/2 tablet for his size, and it's a royal pain to chop those suckers in half perfectly. Anyway, I did some research and I see that Dasuquin is the front runner in this area with the addition of ASU. But, if so...

Re: Must haves for post-ACL surgery

Aww, look at that cute brown and white smooshy face :inlove: Well Blu is certainly feeling better. We're doing pain meds every 12 hours rather than 8, and I think we can stop them altogether. I just want to be 100% sure. He is not showing any pain or discomfort and is in fact full of energy and utte...

Re: Must haves for post-ACL surgery

Well, we replaced the Kong clear one with the larger size and put a collar on him to keep it up higher than it was sitting. He's not happy but he's not freaking out, he's actually snoring now (just got his drugs not too long ago). He can't drink water or eat a kong but he can't get to his leg and th...

Re: Must haves for post-ACL surgery

Well we are currently using the Kong clear e-collar (http://www.amazon.com/KONG-Collar-Dogs-Large-Clear/dp/B0002AR0GA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). It seems to be less bulky than the comfy cone (http://www.allfourpaws.com/the_comfy_cone.php" onclick="windo...

Re: Must haves for post-ACL surgery

Yes, Blu had TTA. They basically want you to do nothing for 6-8 weeks...no walks, no icing, no touching or massaging, etc. Just observe it to make sure it's clean and dry. We went to the most recommended orthopedic surg. center in our area so I'm hoping they know what they're talking about. If neces...

Re: Must haves for post-ACL surgery

His dr. said absolutely no rehab or walks at all (except potty breaks) until the xrays are taken at 6-8weeks. I was surprised to hear this since I know many people on here were doing light PT right after surgery. Are most dogs only on the pain meds for one week? That's all they prescribed for Blu. L...

Re: Must haves for post-ACL surgery

We picked Blu up yesterday afternoon. He had a fully torn cruciate, so I'm glad we did the surgery. He's on tramadol, deramaxx and cipro. As of this morning, he is attempting to walk in his pen on both legs (no toe touching like yesterday). The car ride home yesterday was rough, but he was late on h...

Re: Must haves for post-ACL surgery

He's scheduled for Thursday, September 8 at a different place than we had the original consult. I'm still freaking out about it, but more comfortable with this doctor's experience. I'm trying to get the house set up.....I can't think of any place that he can be without access to things to jump on so...

Re: Seizure

Is this the first time he's ever had what you are describing to be a seizure?

I would absolutely 100% take him for a check-up.

Re: Need help putting weight on Kahne

Blu eats Go! Salmon & Oats too! Do you order it online? Anyway, we too are allergic to everything but salmon. I add a tablespoon of Wellness 95% (rest is water) Salmon canned. Maybe you could try that? It's just salmon.... Blu was too skinny for me on other foods, but he's doing great with this...

Re: Need help with Blu's behavior toward select strangers

I know it's been a while, but I thought I would update this thread. I took Blu to see Drayton Michaels of Urban Dawgs at the beginning of the month. He was great, kind and knowledgeable. He felt that Blu was overall a friendly and sound dog and his reactions are primarily out of frustration and did ...

Re: growling at kids

Hopefully someone else will provide you with some advice, but I know as a general rule, dogs do not like to be stared at by strangers.
