Re: Puppy not interested in her food.

Adrianne, The only thing I am worried about with adding the bribes in with her food is that she will only want to eat with other things supplemented in and then not want to eat with no extras in it. I know adding stuff in works because I tried with some cheese and it did work but she did kind of eat...

Puppy not interested in her food.

I'm going to start a new topic for this. I have recently switched my 6 month old APBT from Science diet to the Wellnesss Super5mix Puppy and am on the last week of 3 for weening her. She has over the last week and a half become very dissinterested in her food. I will catch her trying to eat out of m...

Re: Decided on food change. Ween or not Ween?

Let me add that everyone is on a feeding schedule now. And my older dogs are being weened on to the Wellness super5mix, they seem to like it a lot. I have been picking up their bowls after 20 minutes, the only one having a problem is Josie, the six month old pit.

Re: Decided on food change. Ween or not Ween?

Yes, they are left unsupervised. They have been together a decade with no problems. I realize something could happen, but I will just have to deal with that if it occurs because I have no way of feasibly seperating them for the time we are at work. Puppy is still only picking at her food, I am going...

Re: Decided on food change. Ween or not Ween?

I realize free-feeding is not the optimal situation. To be honest though, up until now it has not been a problem. Our older dogs are a pit and a pit lab mix. They each had their bowl of food right next to each other and amazingly enough, would never eat the other ones food. They respected the other ...

Re: Decided on food change. Ween or not Ween?

Feeding her 1.5 cups in the morning and 1.5 in the evening. When she doesn't eat I usually just pick the food up but I've been worried she isn't eating enough so I have been putting it back down midday when I'm home. It's kind of tough though because we have free-fed our other dogs for the last deca...

Re: Decided on food change. Ween or not Ween?

This puppy is starting to get on my nerves. She's not really eating now. She seemed to like the new food at first but now she just kind of picks at it. Don't know if I should just try another food or hold out for a while. She is full of energy and doesn't seem to be sick or anything.

Re: Decided on food change. Ween or not Ween?

I swapped the bag out for the regular puppy mix. She is usually eating 3 cups a day so this first week I'm doing 2 cups old, 1 cup new. Next week half and half, then 1 cup old 2 new. She does like the new stuff, I think she tries to pick through the science diet to get to the wellness. Kind of like ...

Re: Decided on food change. Ween or not Ween?

Started the switch for the puppy today. Decided on the Wellness Super5 mix Large breed puppy. I opened the bag and gave her a little taste out of my hand and she couldn't get enough. Filled her bowl about 1/3 new 2/3 old. Once the other 2 get a little bit further through their current bag I think I'...

Re: Decided on food change. Ween or not Ween?

The puppy is also an apbt. Yeah, I have spent the last few days trying to decipher on here what seems to be "the good ones" as far as dog food goes and it's making my mind spin. I just remembered reading on here somewhere to avoid the "mature" dog food and the "puppy" f...

Decided on food change. Ween or not Ween?

I have done some searches on this but can't really sift through it all. I have read the entire Top 5 thread over the last couple days and I am feeling guilty. My eyes have been open and I can't keep feeding my dog Science Diet. Ignorance is bliss I guess but all this time I thought I was doing my do...

Re: Top 5 Foods

Let me also ask, if you had to buy from Petco, what would be the best food that they offer?

Re: Top 5 Foods

Hi there. I have been feeding my dogs Science Diet Mature for the last few years, one is a 13yr old pit/lab mix the other is a 10 yr old pit. I also have a 5 and a half month old pit puppy who has been eating the Science Diet Puppy formula. The puppy doesn't seem to be eating as much as she should, ...

Re: How do you do...

Hi! My name is Patrick. I'm a firefighter in Jacksonville Florida. I have a 13 yr old pit-lab mix, a 10 year old pit, and our newest addition is a soon to be 6 month old pit. The oldest was my wifes when we first met. The second, lucy was the runt of the litter of an old neighbor. We were not looki...
