Re: Hock tendon injury? Molly's latest medical adventure

Nugget just went in for rads for his hocks yesterday. No swelling, but his hock ligaments are so slack they constantly hyper-extend and cause him pain and make him non-weight bearing after more than a few minutes of running. When Molly's a little sounder, we should take our hock hobblers for a walk.

Re: Goat milk kefir

We had some pups in the clinic recently who were rejected by their mom, and we bottle fed them with goats milk. We didn't use the whole can and it had to be thrown out, so on a whim I gave the leftovers (3/4 can) to Nugget. He LOVED it. Didn't upset his stomach at all, and I've heard that it has goo...

Re: Pros/Cons for spaying 8 yr old?

Meh, we do surgery for tumors etc on dogs 12 and older all the time. Its sad sometimes how the general public thinks pets will die under anesthesia after 10 years of age. Dental procedures require much longer anesthetic than most surgeries, and we perform these on senior dogs every day. Unless she ...

Cross posting for a co-worker who is trying to help this dog get adopted. She looks like a Picasso from getting her jaw broken by a previous owner. This girl needs her own forever home!!! http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/petdetail/21709250-Lucy-American%20Staffordshire%20Terrier-Dog-New%20York-NY ...

Re: Sneaky's latest ordeal

I'm really sorry this is happening. I don't pray, but you and your dogs are in my thoughts. I lost a dog I loved very much to a tumor in her heart, this past Friday, and I am still trying to deal with it somehow. I can't catch a break.I had 5 happy dogs in my house on Thursday night and tonight ther...

Re: Leaving a dog alone for 12+ hours

I don't know how anybody can work 5 eights, especially during the day. It's the worst shift ever. I don't know how people get anything done. DItto to that... I'll take my 18 hour overnights with my extra day off over a 5 day straight work-week any day. My job is stressful enough that 4 days is a ro...

Re: Well, it's not dysplasia...

I looked into Ataxia the moment I got home, but the symptoms don't seem to match up. I think a blood test may be in order regardless. Also doesn't seem to match up exactly with what wobblers looks like... But am wishing we had done a myelogram while he was under. Will speak to the vet re both possib...

Well, it's not dysplasia...

Nugget's been showing signs of dysplasia or some other structural issue. While standing, his back legs will sometimes suddenly "roll" out at the hock (making him look bow legged), and when he walks at a relaxed pace, his hind legs roll as if he were knock-knee'd (but at the hocks). So, I g...

Re: I rescued a pitbull today.

Check with acc/humane society for lost dog postings too! My nightmare is my dog getting lost, ends up looking neglected from time on the road and the not getting returned because someone suspects an abusive owner. You never know who is missing their pet...
