Re: Licking - can neosporin hurt him?

Regular plain neosporin wont hurt them if they lick it :) Just make sure it does not have any other ingredients in it ( pain medication, etc)

Histocytomas?

Just curious to see if anyone has had experiences with histocytomas on their dogs. Addie has developed one ( started out small and grew to double size in a week and a half ( about the size of a pinky fingernail). I took her to the Dr I work for and she told me it looked like a histiocytoma and not t...

Re: Information from a Board Certified Vet Nutritionalist

If Dr. Bartage has dogs, I'm curious to find out what he feeds them. Hmmmm . . . . . Thanks for the Readers Digest version of the seminar  E LOL welcome! I'm not sure, he didnt say unfortunatly. He did say they do a lot of home made diets for their clients, but do research on kibble / comm...

Re: Information from a Board Certified Vet Nutritionalist

Glad to help! :) I found him very interesting and good to listen to. He added a lot to my understanding about food ( I've done a lot of research myself since I got my puppy almost a year ago) He had said the purpose of the lectures was to provide good well rounded information for vet professionals t...

Information from a Board Certified Vet Nutritionalist

First off, I am not a board certified veterinary nutritionalist myself, but I did attend the Mid West veterinary conference and attended classes lectured by Dr. Bartage - he's the board certified vet nutritionalist at the University of Tennesee. I Just wanted to share my infromation - he was a VERY ...

Re: Food Question

Depends on what you want to feed honestly. I belive the wilderness is higher protein than the fish and potato. Blue buffalo in general is good food so you can't go wrong there. Wilderness is geared toward higher energy dogs ( says on their website) eg: working , athletic dogs. Its a bit higher prote...

Re: Possible hip problem? Curious to see what others think

Gypsy has low grade HD, but I've never heard her hips pop. Her knees will pop sometimes though. What do you mean by 'frog sit'? I'm thinking of a frog, and I see legs similar to how a dog normally sits, but with the knees turned out instead of next to the body. the popping seems to be just after sh...

Possible hip problem? Curious to see what others think

Hi everyone :) Just curious to know what everyone here thinks. I know the only sure fire way of knowing if hip dysplasia is present is by xrays, but i'm wondering what people here think about this.. I'm a new dog mom ( though my puppy is now 9 months old.. i've had her since she was 7 weeks) .. so o...

Re: Pet Insurance

I just signed up Booker for PetPlan instead of VPI. Not entirely sure why, but I did. I am trying to figure out if PetPlan has the same 12-month "wait" before they will cover any CCL injuries, like VPI does? I mean, I'm hoping Booker doesn't blow a knee in the next year or twelve, but jus...

Owner of a Pit-Mix Puppy.. new to the forum :)

Hi everyone! My name is Melinda. I'm from Northwest Ohio and work at a local vet clinic. I am the proud owner of a half pit bull - half mutt puppy. Right now she's 7 months old and about 47-ish or so pounds. Mom was a pit bull, dad was a mutt ( my best guess is maybe german shepherd/ lab?). I've alw...
