How long until first agility trial?

Just curious.. how long did those of you in Agility train before trying your first agility trial? Addie and I have been in classes for a year now.. i'm eager to at least try a trial ( Id like to get her use to the environment), but unsure if we're ready. I've heard about CPE which is suppose to be a...

Re: Feeding Raw

I officially have 3 out of 4 cats on full raw as of today. 1 has been on full for almost a month I think. I'll be trying more with the hold out kitty once I am healed up from my surgery. I also have started Khan on some chicken and he hasn't seemed to have any allergic reaction to it. You're lucky!...

Re: Sit means Sit?

Wow, how sad.. they use an electronic collar for everything? Unfortunatly one of these places jus tupened up in my town, we were brought a flyer, but were a bit unsure about it. Yikes!

Ive also heard they're pretty expensive.

Re: Feeding Raw

Depending on where you live too, you might want to look into My Pet Carnivore or Hare Today, at least for starting out. They have decent prices and have a variety of groun whole animals, and whole..I've used my pet carnivore and really liked their stuff so far. Addie is half kibble half raw fed. I f...

Re: Raw bones and interacting w/ children

I think you should be just fine. To be on the safe side, you may want to have them wash up after playing, but I dont think theres a big issue. The only thing i have read about salmonella and raw feeding is through feces.. so I dont think you have much of a worry. Better to be safe than sorry.. but f...

Re: Feeding Raw

Do you think it is a bad approach to feed a kibble diet (I do not trust myself to provide a healthy, balanced diet for my dog at this point) and throw in some raw here and there? Like I said, two or three nights a week throwing in some chicken backs/legs or other meats I can get my hands on. I will...

Re: Natural Food vs. "Major" Brand vs. Raw

According to http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; all of the foods I have listed are more then 35% protein? An active dog can get away with 30-35%, but I dont think more than 35% is necessary.. you're basically paying for more protein than you need...and tha...

Re: Natural Food vs. "Major" Brand vs. Raw

I've been told by a board certified veterinary nutritionalist, as well as a holistic veterinarian, and done countless research that higher protein foods do not cause kidney disease. If a pet does have kidney problems its best to have on a lower protein ( but highly digestable form) diet.. normal pet...

Re: Natural Food vs.

I think this is the approach I will take for a while - throwing in some raw meals here and there. When I start to see the benefits like you do from feeding raw I will probably be pushed to switch completely over to it. How often would you add in the sweet potato? Like throw it in with the raw 2x a ...

Re: Natural Food vs. "Major" Brand vs. Raw

SOunds like you're doing the right thing. When I first got Addie she was 7 weeks old. Being in the veterinary industry ( I'm a tech) without much personal research before .. I fed Iams for the first few months of Addies life. ( We are often told in the veterinary industy Iams, Science Diet and Royal...

Re: Pet insurance -impossible with existing problem

Actually, any insurance company will take on your dog with hip dysplasia--they just won't ever cover issues related to hip dysplasia in the future. But they'll cover everything else (skin issues, tick-borne diseases, cancer, ACL tears, intestinal blockages, car accidents, eating a chew toy, parvo, ...
