Re: What would your next step be?

To start, I'd like to say thank you to everyone for your replies. I wanted to post this question to get feedback from other people who understand the breed and its nature, possibly more than even the dog trainer does. give him positive associations with things that frighten him. Is this something th...

What would your next step be?

I've run in to a bit of a wall here with Koda's behavior. Koda has always been a very, very anxious dog, which can be attributed to many things that have happened in his life. I put him through dog training for 8 weeks with a professional trainer when he was 8 months old, and that helped his behavio...

Re: Allergies?

Yeah he's eating fine and behaving pretty normal. A little less energy, but that's to be expected. I called my vet about the blood, and she wanted to put him on cough suppresant to avoid irritating the chest anymore. I'm hesitant to actually give it to him though since the majority of the coughing o...

Re: Allergies?

He's had the kennel cough vaccination about two months ago, but I understand it's not 100%. Koda does go to daycare fairly often, so kennel cough would not surprise me. New development this morning that is concerning me: There was blood on his pillow this morning. Not any more than the size of my fi...

Allergies?

I wanted to see if anyone had a problem right now with allergies in their pups. Koda started this hacking cough on Tuesday night. He'd do a few normal coughs, followed by what looked like an attempt to vomit or get something out of his throat, where he made his mouth really wide and hacked downward....

Re: Boy question... what is coming out of his boy area??

I'm not trying to purposely look at it! I swear I'm not a creeper! lol

He's not intact though... I looked it up on a few sites and a lot of people are saying it happens with the boys who still have their... boys haha. Does that make a difference?

Boy question... what is coming out of his boy area??

I've asked the vet about this previously, but it is still occurring and it just seems strange. Koda has a cloudy, white liquid coming out of his... well, his pee-pee area. It's not very much, maybe like a couple drops per dayI had asked the vet about this about a year ago, but she kept insisting it ...

Re: Will Basil hate me for helping the vet spay her?

No I don't think she will hold it against you. I've been called back many times to hold Koda while they give him a shot or even cut his nails. It's a lot easier for me to hold his head and keep him happy than a person he's not as familiar with. He even tends to calm down when I'm there holding him. ...

Re: Thanks, roommate.

That's strange that your dog is all of a sudden behaving that way. I understand being upset, I was in the same situation when my dog turned 6 months. How old is your dog? Is he altered? My dog was unaltered at 6 months and it was as if a light switch happened, it was like night and day. All of a sud...

Re: Thanks, roommate.

I'm not sure if this is it, but the gate may be causing the problem. I know my dog was a stray, and when he came into my home, he became very protective of what was "his." Your dog may be viewing the gated in space as "his" to protect. When people are putting their hands in his a...

Re: Looking for Exercise Tips

Yeah I'd thought about that... "What if he actually caught one?" The birds haven't been diving at him the past two days, just flying around him, so that makes me feel better. I'd feel terrible if he caught one and then the nest of babies died... so I'm not going to let that happen. We're s...

Re: Looking for Exercise Tips

He is the type to get frustrated and cry. We tried having two people sit across the room and throw the ball, but let him have it for a second when he gets there. He just wanted to take the ball and run away, so that'll take some practice lol Apparently there is a Mockingbird nest somewhere near our ...

Re: Looking for Exercise Tips

He tends to get upset and cry though... literally, he cries lol I'm about to go google to Egge... I'm excited about a potential ne...

Re: Looking for Exercise Tips

Thanks everyone! I got my roller blades out, and realized they don't have brakes on them anymore... hmm... that sounds like I'm just asking to get pulled down! haha The flirtpole is sounding like the most appropriate option. I had him in an advanced tricks class earlier in the year, but everyone dro...
