Re: Worried :(

So sorry you're having to deal with this. I sure hope a new set of eyes will bring a new perspective and hopefully some sort of answer. I know this must be horribly frustrating for you and Buddy both.

Hugs to you and Buddy!

Re: Limping, hair loss, oh my (lab mix)

Finn is doing much better the past couple of days. That tramadol made him behave differently, so I didn't bring Koda over while he was on it. He seemed more on edge. But, now that he's off of it, I brought Koda over the night after his x-ray and they got to chew on toys next to each other again. (so...

Re: Limping, hair loss, oh my (lab mix)

Well, the good news is that it's not cancer of any sort! The bad news is that he will need surgery. The vet said that it appears there was an injury at some point that tore the cartilage in the shoulder joint. I blame his constant desire to jump at squirrels in the trees, but who knows. She said the...

Re: Limping, hair loss, oh my (lab mix)

Well, Finn is waking up from the sedation now. They drew blood too to test the thyroid levels. She thinks that is what is causing the hair loss. As for the x-ray, apparently they see something. They called my mom and said they wanted to speak with her in person this afternoon... which does not sound...

Re: Limping, hair loss, oh my (lab mix)

If only we had access to a pool that was not a public swimming center... that would be a shock to the other patrons lol I'll check the area for a rehab center that has an indoor pool. I think I remember there being one around here, but it required a vet's authorization to be used. He's at the vet as...

Re: Limping, hair loss, oh my (lab mix)

I'm hoping it's nothing to be concerned about as well. We're stuck in a tough place because if they find something, it'll be bad. But if they don't find anything, then we're stuck with a limping dog and no answers, which is frustrating. I'm sure that's how you feel with your dog too! It's tough with...

Re: Limping, hair loss, oh my (lab mix)

His last thyroid blood test was almost 4 months ago, which I'm thinking is too long and something has happened to where it is not under control, hence the hair loss. They'll be sedating him to do the x-ray tomorrow. Being that large, it obviously didn't work so well unsedated. Will they be able to r...

Limping, hair loss, oh my (lab mix)

I posted almost a year ago about my parents' lab/rhodesian mix Finn. http://www.pitbullforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=129895 He was diagnosed with hypothyroidism early last year and was put on Thyrozine to help. Since then, he is down to 115 pounds, which we never thought would be possible. He's ...

Re: Swollen Tail

Good to know! I'd read about the stud tail issue, but they always said it was associated with hair loss as well. Maybe it's just the beginning of the issue so the hair loss hasn't occurred? I'll take a closer look at the tail tonight. I haven't noticed any sort of substance coming out, but I'm sure ...

Swollen Tail

Hey everyone - quick question. Koda has been licking his back end a ton since Tuesday morning. He's licking his anal area, but also above and around his tail. He's still wagging and holding it pretty normally, but on our walk he kept looking behind and snapping at the air, almost as if something was...

Re: Lamb diets?

I've been going through this right now with Koda. I wanted to switch him to something more nuritous, but everything was giving him diarrhea for extended periods of time. Someone on here actually suggested it could be the chicken in everything, so we switched to Blue Buffalo Lamb and Rice. It's defin...

Re: Finally a food that WORKS!!!!!!

Well considering this is the FIRST food I've seen him do GREAT on and I've been trying to find a good food for him for about 5 years now. I like what I found and I'm happy with it I totally understand!! I'm trying to see how Koda will do on Blue Buffalo's Lamb and Rice formula right now, but we're ...

Re: Switched food a month ago - still having diarrhea

I'll give it another two weeks or so to see how he does. I just worry about it hurting him to have an upset stomach. Is there any sense is trying the pumpkin again? I appreciate everyone's help... really you guys are keeping me sane! As far as the vet thing goes, it's just been one miss after anothe...

Re: Switched food a month ago - still having diarrhea

No, he does not have a regular vet he sees. I've yet to find a vet that I feel can properly work with him. When he has his shots done, they're done at the doggie day care/vet facility he goes to, but I do not feel that veterinarian likes him. Every vet we've ever been to has behaved either unprofess...
