Re: Training Class At Petsmart?

I took my dog to PetSmart for the puppy training class at 4 months of age. At the time of his enrollment, he was behaving like a typical puppy; very interested and happy to be with other dogs. Did he learn the basic commands? Not so much. Mostly because he was far too interested in the other dogs. A...

Re: Aggression at the fence

Thank you for the video! It's always easier to actually see someone doing it correctly than to just start on my own. Last night, we worked under the threshold. No clicker yet, just on-leash, working on "look" and "leave it." I took him out for about 10 minutes at a time, some whe...

Re: Aggression at the fence

Thank you for the reply! I didn't even think about leashing them honestly. Oops! It makes more sense though - thank you!

Aggression at the fence

We're having a little problem with aggression at the fence. Koda goes to my parents house about every other day. They have a huge yard and a chubby Lab/Rhodesian named Finn who needs the exercise that comes with Koda being there. The house next door to them has always been a rental property, and the...

Re: Can a dog twitch after waking from a dream?

Thank you so much! I'm trying to not worry, but I can't help it. Unfortunately, I've had some experience with distemper before. My parents bought a lab puppy from Petland in 1983 (before we knew what we know now.) After bringing him home, they found out that the puppy had distemper. Over a couple of...

Re: Can a dog twitch after waking from a dream?

Well, here's what has been determined so far... I contacted my vet after posting this. She said as long as it didn't seem to upset him or cause harm to wait to bring him in until I had video of the incident. (She did not want to medicate him for seizures until she saw what was happening, which I'm t...

Re: Can a dog twitch after waking from a dream?

Thank you so much for that link. I started reading into it more and stumbled on the "distemper" section. Now I have more questions... When I first found Koda at about 8 weeks old, he presented severe upper respiratory symptoms, predominately bright green mucus coming from his nose and eyes...

Re: Can a dog twitch after waking from a dream?

See, koda has those types of dreams too where the feet move and he whimpers. But with these, there's not foot movement and no vocal sounds at all. It's pretty strange.

Can a dog twitch after waking from a dream?

Is it possible for a dog to have a dream, begin twitching, wake up, and continue twitching even when walking around? Koda has had three instances of twitching activity now. They started about two months ago. The most recent was last night. It is mainly twitching of his head, but his upper body has a...

Re: TEXAS STATEWIDE

There's nothing about it being a felony to own a pit bull. Did they take that part out completely? Maybe they thought it'd be more likely to pass this way?

Re: TEXAS STATEWIDE

I've been trying to keep up with what's happening but hadn't heard anything. I'm extremely disappointed to hear this. If you find a link about it or anything, I'd be interested to read about who is sponsoring this.

Re: TEXAS STATEWIDE

I had no idea they did not have a sponsor... it's a sigh of relief but likely not the end. I guess we'll all just keep an eye on it.

"Stop BSL" has a link to email your representative and ask them not to support it, so I'm thinking that's the best way to ensure it stays without a sponsor.

Re: Felony to own a Pit Bull in the State of Texas

I wish it was more of an update :(

I can't seem to find anything about when it will be introduced. They were talking on the news just now about today's meeting being more procedural and nothing was really presented bill-wise. We'll just have to wait and see I guess

Re: TEXAS STATEWIDE

Oh, I'm terrified too. I just got my teaching certification here, so I don't want to leave by any means. Like I said on another thread, we have a HUGE budget shortfall. It's really bad. There's so much to deal with financially with the state, I'm hoping their focus will not be on this bill. I just r...

Re: Felony to own a Pit Bull in the State of Texas

The legislature convened this morning, but I've heard some reports that this bill may not be presented until Friday.

Honestly, with the huge budget shortfall issue in this state, I'm hoping banning pit bulls will not be their focus
