Re: Feeding Raw

I saw raw egg mentioned a few times, but what are the benefits of it? I'm still feeding kibble (Evo), and am very happy with it at the moment, but I would like to start adding small things into his diet.

Re: Leaving a dog alone for 12+ hours

There are going to be stellar owners and not so stellar owners. I'm thinking the majority aren't going to be great... I think that is ridiculous that you can accuse people to be less than "stellar" pet owners because they chose to work a longer shift. Working at the hospital, I can't even...

Re: Leaving a dog alone for 12+ hours

Dexter does just fine in his crate for 13 hours 3 nights a week, there are no physical or mental issues. He is the deffination of a velcro dog. He spazzes like no other when i get home in the morning, but he does that weather he is locked up or not. I see no issue with crating for 12-13 hours a few ...

Teaching bite inhinitation

I know at nearly 3 years of age is a little late to start teach this, but its never been a problem until now. I've had Dexter for nearly a year now and he is finally interested in playing with his toys. The only problem it that when he goes to grab the toy 8 times out of 10 he tags my hands, hard. I...

Re: Staying off furniture when not home

I know this may sound silly, but we use newspaper laid out over the cushions and some old cans filled with pennies so they rattle when she gets on the couch. The noise of the paper and pennies keeps her off.

Re: back to square one

Give her time to settle before you throw something new into the mix. It can take dogs a while to get use to a new place. I moved back in april and am just now seeing my dog go back to his normal self. Some dogs take longer than others to adjust to new places.

Re: Question for schutzhund people

I guess I just needed to hear that its not a common practice... Thanks ladies! Some pushing and thumps on the body are fine, thats how we play, but as soon as he gets him in the face Dex just stops and will go lay down in his crate. My mothers husband won't let him get away and goes right back to ro...

Question for schutzhund people

When playing with your dog at home, not training, do you play really rough with your dogs? Like when playing tug or just goofing off would you thump or smack the dog in the face? I only ask because when I bring Dexter with me to my mothers house, her husband, who claims that he did schutzhund with h...

I know my dog would refuse to "use" this.

My dog has enough issues trying to poop while on a leash already, lets just strap this thing to him and watch some new issues pop up.

Designated potty spot?

Dexter has the wonder habbit if pooping on the back patio. I can't scold him because I've never caught him in the act, but it has to stop. I've seen on "its me or the dog" how one couple did this and dont know how reasonable it is. My other option was to get a chain sopt just for going pot...

Re: When it rains, it pours...

Abby LOVES the rain, and will go about her business as if its all sunshine and rainbows. Dexter, I have to drag outside to do his business, if its anything more than a light sprinkle, he will not go outside no matter how much I try. But both can hold it if need be, so I don't fret about it.

Re: Angus Lure Coursing

I should have gone out with you two that day. Out of no where Dexter has finally realized, that yes, he is supposed/allowed to chase, chew, shake and destroy his toys. I think he would have liked lure coursing.
