Re: Do you feed measured amounts or let them gourge?

Liberty would eat until she exploded. She once licked a litter box clean. Literally. It must've been about 5lb of wheat litter (and uh... other things) and she ate every last bit. She was swollen and pooping bizarre sawdust for three days. :wow :wow I must have missed that adventure of Lib. Ewwww! ...

Re: Do you feed measured amounts or let them gourge?

We feed raw. I generally give them a rough estimate of what I think they should eat. Both will walk away if they're full though. If they finish their meal quickly and seem to be looking for more, I'll give them more at the next meal. I have been known to give them a huge portion because I'm too lazy...

Re: Trust your Vet to spay or go with the cheapo clinic?

I'd also take the dog's personality into account. I wouldn't take Amber to a cheap clinic (where she doesn't know anyone) because she has anxiety and would be even worse if there wasn't anyone to comfort her and all that crap. Not saying that the vets/techs don't care, but normally the clinics are r...

Re: Dawn dish soap?

I use Dawn dish soap to wash vegetable oil off the dogs. I used the vegetable oil to get pine sap out of their fur. I definitely wouldn't use it frequently.

Re: My old boy

I have already scheduled him for swimming twice a week starting next week....SO, HOPEFULLY!!! Oh Hooray!!! So many people don't have access to this sort of treatment, and its one of my favorites by far. I hope your boy loves it!! I'd be shocked right off my chair if a Golden Retriever doesn't like ...

Re: Vet conundrum- suggestions

I had a dog who got yeast infections every time he was on antibiotics. It got to the point that when he had to be on antibiotics, we automatically started treating his ears for a yeast infection because we knew it was going to happen. I know people who also get yeast infections as soon as they're on...

Re: RAW food

I would feed bigger pieces so he HAS to chew. I was always told "the size of their head". I feed a lot of frozen meat, mainly because I never remember to take it out far enough in advance for it to thaw. Dogs CAN chew up frozen meat unless their jaws are screwed up. The largest thing Andr...

Re: RAW food

It is my understanding(and I may be wrong...so someone correct me if I am) That as long as they chew and break the bone up(soften it) and then swallow that is ok. They aren't going to pick off piece by piece in the way that we as humans would cut of pieces to chew. What?!? Khan doesn't use a knife ...

A staff who understands reactivity towards other dogs and will happily get us into an exam room asap. Also, not making disparaging remarks about Amber's breed.
