Re: bones

Both raw pheasant and raw rabbit should be fine. If you are worried about parasites, freezing the bones should kill parasites. If you are processing the rabbits yourself, you dogs may like the rabbit heads, I know mine do.

Re: Human allergies related to dogs

With a cat allergy, it is supposed to help if the cat is bathed weekly. I would assume that could also apply to dogs; I do not think that you necessarily have to use an allergen reducing shampoo, though. Is there a gentle shampoo that you already use on Saint? With more frequent bathing, you could t...

This. Your dog will probably pull the feathers off making a big mess; at least that is what happened when my childhood dog caught a bird and ate it.

Re: Bitter Apple & substitutes

We use this product: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3830095&lmdn=Price" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it seems to work better than the bitter apple for my chewer; I do have to periodically reapply it to things I do not want her to destroy. As far as crates, w...

Re: Dog smell?

I will second that with higher quality foods you feed less. My female has always been itchy. The vet said not to have her were a collar all the time because she will scratch herself until she bleeds. I was feeding Kirtland brand, but one summer she scratched her neck raw and was not wearing a collar...

Re: 4month pup a tad weak

I currently feed my adult dogs Evo, but when they were puppies I used Kirtland puppy food. It is Costco brand, and is reasonably priced. Your pup may want to eat the adult food because it smells better than his food. I have heard of people feeding TOTW to puppies but I have no personal experience wi...

Re: Found Rabbit Source for Portland, SW Washington

If you do not cull to standard, what is the point of having standards? There are already too many unwanted and discarded rabbits; if breeders want to offer their culls as food, I see it as a good solution. I understand that many in the US view rabbits as pets and not food, but they are a livestock a...

Re: Found Rabbit Source for Portland, SW Washington

I started breeding rabbits because we had a ferret that did not do well on kibble. He lost a lot of weight and would throw up bile. We started them on chicken and then I had the idea to breed rabbits. I started with plain rabbits and decided that I wanted rex rabbits because of the fur. Then I enter...

Re: Found Rabbit Source for Portland, SW Washington

:yucky: i would think that someone who breeds and shows their rabbits wouldn't want to sell them for food. or even offer to butcher them herself. i guess to each is his own, right? Actually it is not uncommon. I eat some of the rabbits that I breed, and some get fed to the dogs and the ferrets. I a...

Hey

Hey all, I am a 29 year old married bully owner in the great southwest. I was introduced to the breed when my family adopted a pit mix from the shelter. I introduced my husband to the breed as he had been taught by the media that pit bulls where not good family dogs. I love the athleticism , humor a...
