Re: Wish us luck!

So quick update. The day we moved into the house, Buddy fell down the basement stairs. So the injection was unsuccessful because of this. The next day while chewing on a rawhide, one of her premolars fell out! So on Friday when I dropped them off at the clinic for boarding while we are down here on ...

Re: Wish us luck!

Thanks Leslie. Now that she's recovered, I do feel better about my decision. nsbullylover, I'm not sure there's anything we can do about the bone spur but we do have the option of surgery to cut the tendon. It's just not something I'm sure I'm willing to do on an 11 yr old dog who also has a chronic...

Re: Wish us luck!

I'm glad she seems to be feeling so much better. Seeing her like that on the weekend must have been so scary! It was! When I would talk to her or lie on the floor with her, she wouldn't even respond to me! The worst part was knowing that *I* was the one who had done it to her, and I was really ques...

Re: Newbie Here- Rescued Pit Arrives on Tuesday

First off, congrats on adopting! I don't know if concerned is the right word but you would be safe to assume that the dog may change to adapt to his new living situation. In the most basic example, the people I adopted Buddy from told me she was terrified of thunderstorms, vaccums, fireworks etc. Si...

Re: GoodGuide's Dog Food Ratings

This is a good find and interesting thread. At least it presents another perspective based on possibly some well considered criteria and not just a seat of the pants opinion. Although, real life observation may be the best measurement. Besides, all dogs are individuals and each still may "do&q...

Re: Wish us luck!

Ugh. So a rough couple of days. She was super groggy all day Saturday. She slept all day while we packed and barely moved at all. She did eat but no poops at all! When she did get up she would move to another spot a few steps away and almost collapse. It was scary and I was texting the vets and tech...

Re: GoodGuide's Dog Food Ratings

I have to say, the "human grade ingredients" thing is a myth. I know a veterinarian who had the opportunity to tour the Champion pet foods plant (Origen/Acana) and the ingredients are NO different than what is in the other foods. (just more of them, and made to sound better..."sun-cur...

Re: Ear/Skin Issues...need help!

You need to get to the underlying cause of the chronic skin/ear infections. It's likely a combination of both food and environmental components.

save your money in the long run by doing some allergy testing. without know what he's allergic to, you wont know how to avoid it.

Re: Wellness Simple Solutions Vs Natural Balance

I have huge concerns with those high-protein diets, stemming from both my own personal experience and seeing a multitude of patients with elevated kidney levels at work. If it were me, I would go with the Natural Balance. Not only is the food lower in protein BUT they have separate manufacturing lin...

Re: what the heck is this?

I would get it checked out for sure.

it could be a hematoma but if tyou haven't seen him get hit or bumped, it would be hard to explain.
