Re: oh lord...embarrassing injestion....

My plumbing can't handle tampons. Learned that the hard way. I was always told growing up that they really shouldn't be flushed anyways.

Re: Innova Evo vs. Orijen???

Anecdotally, both from personal experience and from what seems like daily cases at work, Orijen sucks. I used to be a hard-core proponent and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Until TWO of my dogs (and quite a few dogs at work) began to show serious abnormalities in their bloodwork (ie. el...

Re: Innova Evo vs. Orijen???

Lots of the times 'the best' ends up being really individualized. My beagle is on Orijen. It works well for her. The orijen puppy food didn't do one good thing for the pups, so they're on Acana. Ideally once they're off puppy food (soon) they will be able to tolerate the same foods, but I'm not sure...

Re: Puffy Eye

Coda's doing well. Sore and tired, but her swelling is mostly down. She was pretty dopey when we got her home and threw up on the floor. She's eating fine though. Of course in typical APBT punk fashion, Mina walked up to her and smacked her on the face, right on her swelling, with a big gigantic paw...

Re: Broken tooth, What to do?

Yup. Take her in. When one of my pups broke a baby tooth we had it looked at at one of their many appointments, and the vet said "We'll just keep an eye on it since it will fall out soon. If it were an adult tooth, it would need to be removed"

Re: oh lord...embarrassing injestion....

Coda once at a...used form of birth control. BF and I both vowed to pull the "I dunno, she must've picked something up off the ground" route if she became obstructed lol Discussed this with a friendly vet tech once and she laughed and said it happens often, she said the worst though is whe...

Re: Puffy Eye

I know, not bad at all. I'd done some reading after you mentioned an abscess as a possibility and came across some posts on various forums and just about fainted at the price some people were paying for having one tooth removed. Some were upwards of $900 and twice that for a root canal. When the BF ...

Re: Puffy Eye

Allison for the win! She's in as we speak getting her tooth extracted and we pick her up tomorrow morning. The vet said her tooth it's self looked good and it's likely something got wedged up under her gums and has caused an infection. He did offer antibiotics, but said it would be likely we'd have ...

Re: Puffy Eye

Her swelling went completely away and then WAY up, she looks like she's got half a golfball under her eye now. She's going to the vet tomorrow at 11:40. She's grouchy and sore, but other than that seems to be her usual self.

Re: Puffy Eye

It's almost gone down now. She's still a bit sore, but not nearly as bad or as puffy. She nearly swelled right closed Sunday night, but then it'd already gone down a bit by Monday morning. She looks nearly normal now. Still have no clue what happened. Mina goes to find Coda first thing in the mornin...

Puffy Eye

Coda (my beagle) has been swollen and puffy under her right eye for two days now. It's not getting any worse, and her eye isn't watery or inflamed, no redness or anything...just the swelling underneath. Do dogs get 'black eyes' like we do and swell up if something happens? We didn't see what (if any...

Re: my puppy's weight

My guys were 9 rolly poly pounds at 12 weeks when we adopted them. They're now about 45 lbs and just turned one. I suspect by age two, we might get another 5 pounds out of them and hit 50lbs. We expected them to be bigger because they are APBT mixes and mixed with a larger dog...The shelter predicte...

Re: Psychomotor/behavioral seizures

Thanks Paco and Chases mom. I got a response from a veterinarian on another forum, who basically said this is seizure activity. With these types of atypical seizures there is often not a post-ictal stage and they'll snap out of it almost as quickly as they went into it. Dante always lays down after ...

Psychomotor/behavioral seizures

Dante has been exhibiting a bit of odd behavior. We noticed it twice yesterday and I have noticed it a few times in the last week or so. Yesterday afternoon he asked to go out, and when he came in we had him sit inside the door as we do with all three, to dry his feet. He was sitting there and all o...
