Re: Puffy Eye

It's almost gone down now. She's still a bit sore, but not nearly as bad or as puffy. She nearly swelled right closed Sunday night, but then it'd already gone down a bit by Monday morning. She looks nearly normal now. Still have no clue what happened. Mina goes to find Coda first thing in the mornin...

Puffy Eye

Coda (my beagle) has been swollen and puffy under her right eye for two days now. It's not getting any worse, and her eye isn't watery or inflamed, no redness or anything...just the swelling underneath. Do dogs get 'black eyes' like we do and swell up if something happens? We didn't see what (if any...

Re: Have small children, adopt adult or puppy?

We got two puppies now, that we rescued. We wanted an adult dog, but ended up with two bundles of itty bitty energy (they're 1 now). We decided they will be our last puppies, not only because puppies are a ton of work...but because we'll have children soon and there is NO way I am raising itty bitty...

Re: my puppy's weight

My guys were 9 rolly poly pounds at 12 weeks when we adopted them. They're now about 45 lbs and just turned one. I suspect by age two, we might get another 5 pounds out of them and hit 50lbs. We expected them to be bigger because they are APBT mixes and mixed with a larger dog...The shelter predicte...

Re: The "dog" Sofa

The furniture on the front room the dogs are allowed on because we never actually use it. They are not allowed on this furniture in this room...it's white, and I have 5 animals all with copious amounts of dark fur, no thanks! Plus I have allergies. They don't go on this furniture. Coda (our beagle) ...

Re: Doggy gate

We don't use ours often...we do block the stairs off because of Dante's leg..it's not good for him to be doing stairs on three legs...but they come in super handy when we have company that might not be super dog savy, or have allergies...or when my niece and nephew come over - 2 running screaming ki...

Re: How to stuff a kong?????

Usually I will mix a teensy tiny bit of melted peanutbutter with jarred baby food (green beans or the likes, make sure it's the first step baby food without any spices) and coat kibble in it, and then stuff that into the kong and freeze. Not adding many calories and makes them work for about half of...

Re: Dog eating poop

My beagle LOVES kitty crunchies. UGH. We got a covered box, shoved it under the wash bin in the laundry room, facing the wall, and barricade it with the plastic bins cat litter comes in. This works because Coda is afraid of the plastic bins. Mina loves poop, but has yet to discover the poop in the c...

Re: Psychomotor/behavioral seizures

Thanks Paco and Chases mom. I got a response from a veterinarian on another forum, who basically said this is seizure activity. With these types of atypical seizures there is often not a post-ictal stage and they'll snap out of it almost as quickly as they went into it. Dante always lays down after ...

Psychomotor/behavioral seizures

Dante has been exhibiting a bit of odd behavior. We noticed it twice yesterday and I have noticed it a few times in the last week or so. Yesterday afternoon he asked to go out, and when he came in we had him sit inside the door as we do with all three, to dry his feet. He was sitting there and all o...

Re: How long did it take for your boy to hike his leg?

I eagerly await the day Dante attempts a leg lift. I just want to know if he can, being that he's missing a front leg. He most likely never will, but I know a lot of tripawds do! I just want to know if he'll ever try.

Re: How much do you feed?

Pups (42ish lbs) each get 1 1/3 cup twice a day. Coda (18lbs) gets about 1/3 cup twice a day. My guys are soooo busy and active in the house that they eat a ton and don't pack on the weight. Infact I might have to up Coda's food a bit more, she's looking a little too slim these last couple of weeks....
