Re: My poor girls

Yikes! I hope everyone is in tip-top shape soon and feeling much better! I swear my animals know when I am done Christmas shopping and have to scrounge for money for a while til the pay checks come in after Christmas. In the last 6 years, we have had ATLEAST one vet visit a week before Christmas. On...

Re: Ruby stole a present from under tree :(

The second Christmas we had Coda with us, we bought a box of fancy dog cookies for Coda and our Big guy who was still with us at the time, to unwrap and share. We let big guy and Coda tear open the present and then let them each choose a cookie (or in Coda's case as many as could fit in her little b...

Re: Tripod Boxer!!

Another foster home based rescue should be contacting you today. The folks at tripawds are really rooting for this guy and have posted him on their facebook and are contacting rescues for you. I think you spoke with leslie before...she has contacted a rescue she knows personally and they are going t...

Re: Peeing in the crate

Good thought, but it doesn't seem to have any bearing on it. He's not drinking any more than usual...if anything, he's drinking less now that it's winter and cooler in the house and freezing outside. We're going to try moving the crates to a less high-traffic area this weekend and see if maybe it he...

Peeing in the crate

Dante has been having accidents. We took him to the vet, they did a urinalysis and all that and he's checked out fine medically. He's not doing it when you would expect him to...it's not first thing in the morning, or when he's been in his crate for a while and needs out. I'll let them out for a pee...

Re: Peeing the bed

BF wanted to wait and see over the weekend - Dante had 3 accidents yesterday again, so we're taking in a urine sample this morning and we'll go from there. We tend to be over zealous with potty issues because my beagle had chronic UTI's and bladder stones, so accidents tend to freak me out, and with...

Re: Could use some ideas.

Our beagle at one point was 29 pounds. This was following bladder surgery and some icky prescription food - she's on the small side for a beagle and sits just right at 18 pounds. MEGA oops, poor chunker, she was massive. We mainly took the weight off by decreasing her food. She liked to walk, but li...

Re: Pancreas problems

Hows the dog doing now? My beagle had pancreatitis after she inhaled several pounds of cat and dog food in 5 minutes. She was fine the first few days, then she started vomiting any time she ate. We took her in and we fasted her for over 24 hours, put her on rice (no chicken, not nothing...just rice,...

Peeing the bed

Dante peed his bed 3 times yesterday and then he (or Mina, maybe) also pooped in the house during a flurry of three dogs running laps around the house, someone pooped...likely him, Mina trained pretty quickly. He peed the bed in the morning, then about 2 hours later, and then again atleast once duri...

Re: Tuffys Dog toys

Beagle destroys any and all tuffies that come within a foot of her. PB pups have yet to put a dent in them. They have one of the long ones with rings on either end, that they play tug with and have had it since they were babies.

Re: how often do you bath your dogs?

Does I can't remember the last time I bathed them, count? haha. My dogs are all quite prissy - they don't like icky dirty things. Well, that's not true. My beagle likes to roll on dead worms in the summer - but I don't have mud dogs, they don't like water really, so my guys stay pretty clean. The pu...

Re: Why do you feed the food you do?

Our old guy we switched to Wellness senior super five and he went on to be 15 before he passed. When we switched him at 12 we were sure we didn't have much longer with him...he was having a lot of trouble getting up and laying down, stiff and sore all the time and had lost his spark. He got MUCH hea...

Re: Switched food a month ago - still having diarrhea

Exercise gets the intestines moving and the digestive tract going.

We could always tell when our old guy was having trouble having a bowel movement - he'd run laps around the yard for 5 minutes - and then viola! It would happen for him.

Mina ALWAYS has diarrhea after a walk or harder exercise.

Re: How to take him down a notch?

Both of my pups are like that. Our old guy was, too. Must be a 'pitbull' problem - overly happy to do ANYTHING! Not necessarily a bad thing. One thing I've noticed helps (inside the house, anyways) is to use a less high value treat, or no treat. My guys will throw themselves at my feet for food and ...
