Re: Beginning Weight Pulling.. I need your advice!

BDD harnesses are fantastic, I have one and love it. Never heard a bad thing about the harnesses. Before I put any weight on my dogs, I start by having them drag a medium/light chain, getting some high value foods and giving them a lot of goodies while they move. Basically start them in a sit stay, ...

Re: CGC ?s

When I took the CGC test, I was allowed to sit my dog before greeting the person during the dog-dog test. The dog is supposed to stay at your side for the most part, as long as they don't cross in front of you to greet the other dog. As for the leaving bit. Do you have a friend who'd be willing to t...

Re: Fun, Easy, Gentle

Wow! 100lbs? big boy you've got there, Ambullies rarely get that big unless morbidly obese.(Being as they're crossed down from APBTs and Amstaffs) Sorry :x One of my OCD pet peeves. Thanks for that. Sorry I wasn't clear enough to cover your pet peeve. AmBull. American Bulldog. Not American Bully. M...

Wow! 100lbs? big boy you've got there, Ambullies rarely get that big unless morbidly obese.(Being as they're crossed down from APBTs and Amstaffs) Sounds more like mastiff crossed WP lines, well over 100 normally, relatively widespread bred by BYBs, aaand as said, weight pull lines so they can pull ...

Re: Trick ideas please!

Say your prayers and play dead/bang are always fun. I also taught Dakota "kiss" which is basically a nose touch to the mouth.

Not really a trick, but a general concept, if you're into shaping teaching hind-end awareness is challenging and fun for some. :)

You can go in and ask the owner of the establishment and most are welcoming as long as you're polite and your dog is well behaved.

Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.

Correct :)

Re: How to train a Service/ESA pit bull

I'd say, let her be a puppy when she's younger. Socialize her, expose her to a lot of people, odd sounds, crowds, dogs, elevators if you can. Basically focus on trying to make her "bomb proof" as they say. If she's a little weirded out by something, give her goodies for checking it out, ha...

Hey!!! A local! That's a first =] I'm from Anderson. :) How does she like the water? I know it's cold and wet right now (Although today is quite nice!) but try and get her used to water and very toy focused. Have one special toy that she only gets when you're playing with her and it doesn't come out...

General would've been a better area :)

But yeah, very nice dogs which tend to have very solid temperaments. Many of the Pit Bulls (one "T" by the way ;) ) I work with in the shelter are very confident, friendly dogs who aren't bothered by much.

I was going to say powdered egg shell - I supp wiht that when not feeding bone. My girl's teeth are now FLAT mostly from bones and maybe a bit from tennis balls - I've been wondering how to handle things if the flat teeth wear down anymore re our raw dinners.... there might be some commercial produ...
